  1. KUANTAN: Part of the main road leading to an educational institution near Genting Highlands collapsed early on Friday morning (Apr 6). A 30-metre-deep sunken surface was discovered by a security guard at Aminuddin Baki Institute at around 1.30am. “Electricity in the area has been temporarily disconnected because power cables in the affected area were affected by the collapse,” said Bentong Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) officer Lieutenant Mohd Zulkhairi Adek, He said no one was injured, adding that the road caved in during normal weather. The Pahang Fire and Rescue Department is investigating if there were burst underground pipes in the area. Meanwhile, the department's deputy director Mohd Sani Harul said the road along the affected stretch has been closed to traffic until further notice.

  9. After my last visit 14 years ago, I return to Genting Highland during the weekends and what a transform had taken place in GH. Travelling by coach to GH....... The hill is fill with buildings (hotels) and they are all interlink together. Leaving only the outdoor theme park which is not connected somehow & had to use the overhead bridge to get there. Should had booked First World Hotel had I know that I had to drag my luggages from the bus terminal (GH) to Resort Hotel ...... , cutting through the lobby of First World Hotel, The Parvillion, going up several escalators, taking a lift down to B5 and walk along enclosure, arcade and escalators up again to the hotel...... The place is packed during weekends (first time I came to know that all the 5 major hotels fully booked) and for every games, a long que of ppl waiting for their turns. The food is on the expensive side during my stays and mind you, I am not talking about restaurant food but at The Parvillion (within First World Hotel building) food arcade ........ Can drinks = RM$5.50 Kopi/Teh O = RM$4.00 Kopi/Teh = RM$5.00 Syrup drink = RM$3.50 The worst is the restaurant "Hainan Kitchen" where I had my dinner during the first night. Call themself a Hainanese kitchen but did not sell most of the Hainan delight foods...... . Being a Hainanese myself, I ask for the menu and all is listed is Fish & Chips, Steak, Pork Chop, Chicken Rice ........ ahhhhh.......... chicken rice....... serve with plain rice ...... Some smaller ones served better food than the "Hainan Kitchen". Shops like, "The Flavours", "Yum Yum Place" (Bak Kut Teh ) "Only Mee" (various kinds of noodles , "MaryBrown", "Curry" (Indian food )......... etc... Some other usual fastfood are KFC, Mac, Pizza Hut ........ etc.... Anyway, I enjoyed my stays at GH with my family and a wonderful experience for my 2 teenage kids.....

  12. I will be going on a road trip to Cameron Highland and then to Lake Kenyir in Terengganu. I found out that the 2nd East-West Highway is not opened to public yet but there are some who has driven on it to cut across the M'sia peninsular. Can anyone advise me on how to use the 2nd East-West Highway to go from Cameron Highland to Lake Kenyir? So far, I knew that one has to drive to Gua Musang and then head towards Kuala Krai. But somewhere along the route, you have to go into the Taman Negara National Park in order to re-join the 2nd East-West Highway.
