  1. TL;DR - Garbage truck loses control and crashes into traffic light while almost taking out a pedestrian This is exactly why you should never use your phone while crossing the road! Watch this 60-second clip to see how vigilant the pedestrian was (phew, thankfully) What happened? On April 16, a Sembcorp garbage truck lost control and caused an accident along Ganges Ave. One pedestrian narrowly avoided the collision. SGRV’s Facebook page received dashcam video of the incident, which showed a white garbage truck veering suddenly at a traffic light. The truck slammed into both the traffic light and the divider. A woman crossing the intersection managed to see the approaching truck and quickly sprinted back to the side of the road for safety. Online Chat Can’t imagine if she was distracted by her phone and whatnot… Gosh. Many netizens were commending the pedestrian, not just for her fast reflexes but also how vigilant she was. While the rest were bashing the truck driver. Of course. Is this Terminator in action? Perhaps Sembcorp should terminate him lah… Takeaway Always ensure that vehicles are stopped at the stop line and look out for traffic before crossing the road. You'll never know what goes on behind the wheels. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. My car kena hit-and-run while parked stationery at my MSCP two days ago. A kind-hearted uncle who witnessed the act left a note on my windscreen. I proceeded to retrieve a clean video footage of the hit-n-run incident. I proceeded to make a police report and accident claim at my insurer's workshop. The workshop will file a claim against the culprit and told me I will be advised of the next steps in about 7 working days. Anyone with similar experience? Will my claim be successful?
  3. Canadian woman unofficially sets world record running on all fours https://www.upi.com/Odd_News/2021/08/10/canada-Guinness-World-Records-running-all-fours-Julie-McCann-Vernon-British-Columbia-Canada/6101628614087/ Aug. 10 (UPI) -- A Canadian woman unofficially set a Guinness World Record when she completed a 100-meter run in 22.99 seconds -- while running on all fours. Julie McCann, 38, of Vernon, British Columbia, ran on her hands and feet at the Greater Vernon Athletics Park on Monday and finished well under the 25-second goal mandated by Guinness World Records. McCann, who has been running on all fours since she was 3 years old, said she was inspired to pick up her hobby again and attempt to set the world record in the women's category after reading about Kenichi Ito of Japan, who set the men's version of the record at 15.71 seconds in November 2015. "I just gave birth to my third child, my little girl, and I thought this would give me the motivation to get into being active again. More than anything else, I want to prove to myself that I can do it. I could do it in my 20s but could I still do it in my 30s?" McCann told the Vernon Morning Star. McCann said video and witness reports from her record attempt are being submitted to Guinness World Records for official recognition.
  4. Bugatti claims that the Chiron Sport can hit 420km/h flat out. But is it true? Top Gear's Charlie Turner has been given the chance to experience a top speed run in a Chiron Sport at Volkswagen's Ehra-Lessien test track. In its video, Turner can be seen accessing the full potential of the Chiron with a special key that activates the “high speed” mode. With the correct tyre pressures and car warmed up, he lines the car up after the turn at 200km/h before giving it all. With a straight of more than 8km long, the 8.0-litre, quad-turbo W16-equipped Chiron Sport unleashes all its 1479bhp, allowing Turner to easily go into the 400km/h range quite easily. Eventually, we see in the video that Turner managed to hit 423km/h, showcasing the genius engineering that went into its creation.
