After going through the comments, how many actually climbed KK?

Prior to today, having climbed KK before, I certainly do not have prior knowledge that KK is prone earthquake too. Not withstanding the earthquake itself, the climb up is definitely very doable for anybody with average physical fitness.

I was with three other ladies who aren't the fittest and yet we were able to complete 3/4 of it. We didn't make it to the summit not becos the climb was too siong or give up. We were just slower on our climb up and 3/4 through our guide advise us to u-turn back as ppl are already coming down and it will be dangerous.

I think it is pointless to lay the blame and debate if such expedition is necessary. Parents should always understand the risk, be it a visit to zoo (who knows a tiger may escape right) or to climb KK.

There will always differing views but for now let's just pray for the best for those still missing.

It is sad for me, having witness the full awe of mount KK and to hear this tragedy. And solely my personal opinion - I would rather die on this mountain doing something I enjoy rather than in a car crash on PIE.

Finally. I was expecting your presence much earlier when the thread started to deviated to whether the trip was.necessity.

Let this thread clean from any religious or blaming thread. No amount of words can console the lost of life to any families. They do need to know the whole nation are behind them in time of grief. Rip to the deceased. And be strong to the affected families. We all have you in our prayer.

er, Mount Ophir will die also hor. Certain sports like trekking, mountain climbing, scuba diving, sky diving etc all have inherent risks that can be fatal when things go wrong.

Ophir is quite a shack climb and quite ulu one.

My cca mate climbed it in secondary school. Supposed to be me but I couldn't go

Primary school students shouldn't do LJ like climbing mountains or going into forested areas..... :a-noway:

They are too young for such sports and as of their age, they only listen to instructions given by their teachers. The teachers tell them to turn right, they turn right, tell them to turn left and they will turn left.

Climbing mountains or adventures sport are to be given to upper Sec or JC students where a certain level of maturity are required.

Primary schools can still go for oversea LJ but to be restricted only to cultural visit of that country or school exchange programme with that country schools.

I am absolutely lost for words... ... :a-bang::a-bang::a-bang::dizzy: :dizzy:

Sabah's Deputy Chief Minister said the earthquake, which has claimed 11 lives so far, was a result of the tourists who stripped naked near Mount Kinabalu's summit last month.
He called for them to be brought to a native court to be charged. http://str.sg/UbA

Kudos to our govt for the quick action in getting those children back so quickly. Praying for the 7 still missing.

Sabah quake: Anxious parents are awaiting the return of 19 Tanjong Katong Primary pupils at Changi Airport. Seven are still missing at Mount Kinabalu. http://str.sg/UbP
