Its a brand new terminal. The old one is too small. The old one is like what i see when i go Batam. The xray machine is turned off. Only when got passenger then turned on. Very relaxed mood. No canteen, only food joint is opposite at ST aerospace.

Good to have new terminal.

Ya, and soon we will see daily flights flying from sg to seranpang, ipoh and even johor at seletar Airport. Good for traveller's travel to Malaysia too..

Seletar can likely accomodate most aircraft. the landing strip isn't short.

U can see small a310-320 size ones also.

last time build budget airport only to be demolished few years later.

wasting tax payers money.

I highly doubt it will be demolished few years later since the old Seletar Airport has been serving well from pre-war time till now. It will served as an alternate airport terminal for travelers flying to neighborhood countries with faster aircraft turnaround time since Changi Airport has become so congested that it requires a 5th terminal.

firefly is moving from changi to seletar

i assume scoot and airasia will be next [sly]

these destinations dont need changi airport service

Only turboprop aircrafts moving to Seletar Airport (Firefly). Seletar Airport is actually Singapore's first international airport as well, built back in the late 1920s. The airport previously serve mainly chartered and private aircraft. Berjaya Air used to fly from Seletar to Malaysia's Tioman Island until early 2010s.

Though the runway is long enough to land an A320 used by many budget airlines, it will probably only cater to turboprop just like KL's Subang Airport.

A niece claimed she took the shortest commercial flight within SIngapore yesterday: Paya Lebar airport to Changi Airport.

Her flight from HK was diverted to Paya Lebar thanks to VVIPs planes blocking up Changi runways. Plane had to wait there till Changi cleared, then fly to Changi.

if true, why couldn't the vvips fly through seletar or paya lebar instead?

in June, got VVIP landed and took off at PLAB leh, why now they go disturb changi? makes no sense...

Because seletar and pays Lebar don't have the gleaming facilities and international recognition to haolian to the foreign dignitaries.

From the flight path, the take off is from Paya Lebar, not from Seletar.

you're probably right.

It looks too central to be seletar despite the text on flight radar.

google maps also showed seletar rainway at 1.8km, not enough for a380 while paya lebar is >4km.

Yes, yesterday between 3pm - 7pm many flight was delay. Flight was going round and round above south china sea.

My wife was waiting for an arrival and the plane was delay for 2hrs+. She saw from the screen at Changi many delay and re-timed.

the aircraft must go on a wild goose run all over the place - just to burn and dump fuel - before it can land.

else it will land … but in many pieces … as too heavy.

bargaining chips ??

Malaysia to send protest note to Singapore over Seletar Airport landing system

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will issue a protest note to Singapore over the operation of the instrument landing system (ILS) to be used by Seletar Airport near its border with Johor, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

The protest note by Wisma Putra comes in wake of Singapore's decision to start broadcasting the ILS at Seletar Airport early next year despite Malaysia's decision not allow it on grounds that it will infringe the nation's sovereignty and airspace near Pasir Gudang, Johor some 2km away.

"The broadcast is against the principle of national sovereignty as accorded under the Convention of Civil Aviation 1944.

"The government, through Wisma Putra, will issue a protest note immediately to Singapore in connection to the breach of this principle of sovereignty," he said when answering a question raised by Hassan Abdul Karim (PH-Pasir Gudang) during Minister's Question Time in Parliament on Tuesday (Dec 4).

Loke informed MPs that the ILS would affect development in Pasir Gudang as there would be height restrictions imposed on structures and also affect shipping activities at the Pasir Gudang port.

"The government had decided not to allow Singapore to broadcast its ILS, with this decision conveyed to Singapore on Nov 28 and 29," he said.

However, despite this, Loke said Singapore would begin broadcasting its ILS on Jan 3.

"The government is committed towards defending our sovereignty and to ensure that the nation's interest is safeguarded," Loke said to thumps of approval from lawmakers.

Loke also said that Malaysia had informed Singapore that it would be taking back its delegated airspace in phases, which was accorded to Singapore in 1974 under the Operational Letter of Agreement Between Kuala Lumpur And Singapore Area Control Centres Concerning Singapore Arrivals, Departures And Overflight (LOA 1974).

He said the nation's airspace would be reclaimed between 2019 and 2023.

To a supplementary question by Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, Loke said that Malaysia would not take a confrontational approach over the issue but would engage Singapore in further discussion.
