Copen 1st Gear April 12, 2011 Share April 12, 2011 Dude...I gotta be honest, if you think the MiniOne is a good car and 80-90 km/h is high speed then I would pretty much discount your opinion on anything motoring related. The mini one is an abomination, and my colleague that drove a copen couldn't drive his way out of a paper bag. When I priced the car, it was grotesquely overpriced for the performance. Hi bro, have you personally driven a Copen before? ↡ Advertisement
Darryn Turbocharged April 12, 2011 Share April 12, 2011 Hi bro, have you personally driven a Copen before? Only ridden in, never driven.....they don't really excite me at all.

Hoytusa84 1st Gear April 12, 2011 Share April 12, 2011 1.8 would be rather small for u some passenger comments, I classify for your understanding 1. 1.85 man, middle age. - He had to hunch his shoulders in my car, its rather dangerous for him, cos when top is down, the silver chrome thingy behind him, is lower than his head. should any accident occur, heavy object fly by when open top. Would knock his head 2. 1.66 man - ok with space, seat can be pulled back, decent leg room 3. 1m 4yo boy.. loves it.. not on child seat, safely tucked in with seat belt so., for your 1.8 m, i think this car may not suit u,. not ergonomical for u.. I am 1.64, getting in and out of my car, I get frequent bumps on muy head as its really low Ginger I know u bought the blue one from west coast car mart! Hehe.. Are u a guy or girl?? And you come in here to diss people? Have you got any class? Sorry for being so blunt.
Darryn Turbocharged April 13, 2011 Share April 13, 2011 And you are comparing "in-Copen excitement" to the cars you stated above. And you come in here to diss people? Have you got any class? Sorry for being so blunt. Well you did ask me for what turns me on....of course I am going to say the pretty actress and not the frumpy housewife right? Look - I don't doubt the Copen has it's advantages. What isn't there for me though is the value / price / excitement factor. For what you pay for a Copen, running on a sewing machine engine with a sardine tin interior I would much rather buy a used "genuine" sports car. Or for that matter, I looked at the Copen, just out of interest about two months before I got my Wish - the price then? $68k. My car - $69,500. Now you CANNOT compare the two. That is stupid. But for what I get out of the Wish, compared to what is given by the Copen - the money that is paid for a Copen is just . The Copen is so very limited - yet the price is / was not. This is much the same reason I hate the Koup. For what you pay, for the performance, you may as well go for the four door - you are getting much the same performance, with more practicality (thus more "worth")
Audioniche 1st Gear April 13, 2011 Share April 13, 2011 I simply don't understand you guys who wanted to compare the Copen with other cars. Copen is more towards those who seek for lifestyle and something unique. It is definitely an impractical car if you compare to many others. I would like to say that if you like the Copen, just get it. If you find any faults with it, don't get it. There is no need to put down those who had spent that kind of money for such a car whereas you yourself is not getting one.

Gingerdip 1st Gear April 13, 2011 Share April 13, 2011 yes I bought from West coast.. I had no choice at that time.. Blue was not my favourite color. But I wantedto get it cos the COE kept rising. was thinking, just buy la.. no other copen with better condition during that period. Late 2010 anyway, its really an acquired taste. My hubby absolutely hates my car.. his car was in service and he rather take the train then borrow my car to run errands
Gingerdip 1st Gear April 13, 2011 Share April 13, 2011 anyway, back to the consideration for copen.. some other small and cute cars u may like to consider aside of Copen Toyota MRS - stopped production in 2007, so if you kena accident, gd luck finding parts. Esle this is cute and gd ride. 1.8 Mazda MX5 - My neighbour drives this, also very low and rather silent, unlike a typical sports car or copen. This is 2L. Older models have soft top. if you hv more $$ to burn Then the Mini CC or the Peugeot 206CC
Copen 1st Gear April 13, 2011 Share April 13, 2011 Because that bro buy car with practicality in mind. Thus can't afford to get a Copen and starting putting down the ride. Lame.
Darryn Turbocharged April 13, 2011 Share April 13, 2011 Because that bro buy car with practicality in mind. Thus can't afford to get a Copen and starting putting down the ride. Lame. Actually the argument is more nuanced than that. What I am saying is that at $x if I am giving up practicality I want want a big benefit to come from performance. With a car like the Copen I don't see that. I would be fully willing (for example) to splurge $80k or a used Lotus Elise, which is highly impractical - but has the performance benefit to compensate for that impracticality. For the Copen I don't see a performance benefit for sacrificing practicality - so why would I want to do so?
Karnaugh Neutral Newbie April 13, 2011 Share April 13, 2011 Yes early 6 secs is doable on a Copen with a HKS full setup DX30. On dyno 120horses on 800kg, u do the math 1st and 2nd gear is found to be on par with a stock STI. 120 on 800 kg isn't very impressive tbh. I don't think it can touch STI on the first two gears at all.
Coupecabriolet Clutched April 13, 2011 Share April 13, 2011 Because that bro buy car with practicality in mind. Thus can't afford to get a Copen and starting putting down the ride. Lame. lol. super direct. but i like to sum it up, never talk like jeremy clarkson and with the knowledge of driving a repertoire of fast cars but own a wish and diss the Copen! Copen 1st Gear April 13, 2011 Share April 13, 2011 (edited) 120 on 800 kg isn't very impressive tbh. I don't think it can touch STI on the first two gears at all. Bro I said stock STI, not modded once. We take the 1996 Elise for example. Weighing 725kg output of 118bhp doing a 5.8sec on century sprint. Are you sure you the doing the math correctly? And also you must take out engine capacity into consideration. Elise '96 - 725kg / 118bhp / 1800cc Copen - 800kg / 120bhp / 660cc Meaning to match power output of the Copen with 120bhp, an 1.6L engine will need 300odd horses. First thing first, if you are not interested in Copen then why bother to check out this thread. I see gingerdip is just stating her view on 80-90km/h on a Copen, and you drag on to performance motoring. Oh please... And also you talked about PERFORMANCE on a kei car. Oh please x2 If you got the dough, spend it. Or maybe just create another thread "I rather splurge 80k on a used Lotus rather than Copen" and carry out your discussion from there. ↡ Advertisement
