Turbocharged

i attended the talks and almost joined.

its not really timeshare, more like points which you can buy and exchange for stay in marriot hotels worldwide. reputable hence not a scam. The deals are really good bargains. You get suites at standard prices. However, I didn't join because:

- you spend upfront. Not used to this idea. My holidays are all based on my account at the end of the year and see whether got enough or not then decide go anywhere.

- feedback from other members who said not that easy to get rooms at peak season.

- airfare not included. Imagine budgeting a chunk for stay but you still have not factored in travelling costs.

so no go for me.

Actually, my sis got the apartment in Bangkok quite easily thru the express break, and she said it was great !! Two bedroom apartment with breakfast for 5 in the heart of Bangkok for just USD 60 a day is a steal ! The swimming pool and gym are all on the top floor with stunning views [thumbsup]

On my recent trip to Western Australia, I got the Marriott staff to help me look for accomdation thru exchange, and got the Busselton Bunglows for 1 wk using just 10k marriott points. Very good deal too ... its a newly refurbished 3 bedroom apartment with facilities and just next to the beach. Check the offpeak rate for a apartment there is AUD 300 per nite. The staff was very helpful too, cos we only started inquiry about 6 weeks before our trip, and effectively got the apartment for less than AUD100 per nite for 5 adults and 5 kids [thumbsup]

But if you schedule is not flexible, then this program will not be that attractive.

I went. Pretty professional type of timeshare. No pressure selling..in fact they dont even bother you unless u ask.

Just go there..have a coffee, and waste 90mins.

I got $100 taka voucher and 1 free night stay at Ritz (no other charges needed).

Did any of u guy receive this call?

Say its by invitation only & its all abt Marriot groups thingys.

Sit thru 90mins (sounds like time share hor) & chose either a $100 taka voucher or $125 marriot dining voucher.

Comments?

I also kenna but I didn't go down... After the guy spoke so much I thought this must be some time share thingy... If the event was held at Marriot, I would have gone down but the location was at some office in Ngee Ann City...

Well, it is not easy to get any room at peak season with any timeshare. BTW, it is timeshare except that instead of 1 week block, it is points based because they found out Asians take short 3-4 days vacations. That is why timeshare is not popular with Asians. Give Asians this flexibility, they will most likely get into it.

For more info, visit www.redweek.com forums to have some FAQ of sorts to see how timeshares actually work. Both week block booking and points based. You got fans on both sides. Newer younger couples like points based. Older people tend to like the week block.

OK as for booking, need around 6 weeks advance. I pick low seasons not because for ease of getting a villa. I don't like other tourists. They drive up prices of everything from car rental to spa treats.

Airfare is easy if you choose nearby resorts. LCC flights are affordable. I'm now waiting for them to include Bali and HK. Bangkok and Phuket are very nice so far.

You also member ah?

Anyway, I'm looking for to exchange or rent it out with other people at Redweek on years I don't use. The Express Break feature is very good. After 1yr of ownership, I think Marriott got the timeshare thingy nailed down well with the points system.

Sorry, it is MVCI. Marriott Vacation Club International. Their office is in Ngee Ann City.

If you walk into Marriott (former Dynasty hotel), they have the MVCI counter. That one not office. That one is customer relations counter for MVCI members. Every MVCI resort has this counter. Once check into an MVCI resort, first thing to do is to see the MVCI counter for freebies. Freebies can come in the form of discounts at their restaurants (still ex though), cutesy stuff toys if you got kids and T-shirts or something.

The customer relations officer will tell you certain deals you are entitled that normal hotel guests don't get. So far my experience very good. Both the customer relations officer are very chio Thai girls. inlove.gif

How much are they offering you?

They called me up and ask me for some referral. I have yet to get back to them.

So if anyone is keen, can PM me their name and contact number. I can include it in the email and they will call you up.

But this time, it's only 100 taka voucher or $125 Marriott Dining Voucher.

seems like someone put you in as referral as well.

Mine was citibank that did the referral, so it's 200 or one nite at Ritz
