The daeth houses of Sago Lane where the not so well off went to await death.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I read from a site that those dying poor people went to sago Lane awaiting death? meaning they knew their time is up so they went there?

also know sago Lane was known as " xi lang kay" dead people lane in hokkien ?

===============================

And even if those poor pple had more time to live, just the thought of being in a "death house" wud kill them off very quickly. [sweatdrop]

Bugis Street. Those days u can see all the ang mo there who were attracted by many beautiful transvestites who wud sometimes strip & dance around the tables for the ang mo's. Then they wud run when the police came to arrest them. [laugh][laugh][laugh]

Bugis Street was then very well known for Gu Bak Keow Tiau [thumbsup][thumbsup] Quite a number of them.

====================

Ya Gu Bak Keow Tiau but MORE famous for the "Ah Kuas". [laugh][laugh][laugh]

Until they cleared up the street. I wonder if that's why the Boom Boom Room is there? [sly]

The stone lions (2 I think?) were guarding Merdeka Bridge and Nicoll H'way. I believe the lions were removed & placed somewhere else. Issit Sentosa? [confused]

The two stone lions have been moved to SAFTI MI.

I think got a total of 7 roads rite? What about 五 六 七马路?

Beach road, Waterloo St and Selegie Road included?

大马路 = North bridge road

二马路 = Victoria Street

三马路 = Queen Street

四马路 = should be Bencoolen

The older generation normally know this very well because that was the town area for them aka "坡低"

Was a franchise run by the Jumahboy family. They can't fight against the big chains. McD's has a lot of muscle. Pizzahut, Taco Bell, KFC are all under Tricon International which is actually Pepsico. Lots of financial muscle.

I broke my record when I down-ed 8 cans of Tiger Beer at the NCO Club during SISPEC end of course celebrations.

I'm not really a drinker, so that was an achievement for me. [laugh]

Ahh... all the memories of the NCO club.

SAF NCO club. I enjoyed many a cheap beer there. Pity beer no more. [thumbsdown]

The Fiat 600 was super fast for such a small car. Rear engined 600cc only.
