Octopus 3rd Gear April 30, 2007 Share April 30, 2007 [reply] ya ya. So what you did you get? I got it at Larry Jewelry, but its not their house brand. Its a 0.51 carat, E colour and VS2 clarity, GIA excellent cut, VG polish, VG symmetry. It scored 0.7 on the Holloway Cut Adviser. The setting is platinium 6 prong, which I let my wife choose the ring design herself after I had decided on the diamond. ↡ Advertisement
Picantorian Neutral Newbie April 30, 2007 Share April 30, 2007 agree.. but you cannot do without it during that planning stage.
Shinshino Neutral Newbie April 30, 2007 Share April 30, 2007 Nice I looked up on Holloway cut adviser too. Idealscope also play a part in my decision. Heard that Larry inhouse brand commands a high premium.
Kxbc Turbocharged April 30, 2007 Share April 30, 2007 now she dun wear, cause she wears another ring that brings along better meaning.. the ring that seals your never-ending love for each other.. We don't wear our rings anymore, even our wedding rings. It's been like this for the past 8 years already. Personally I hate accessories, except my watch (this one no choice) on my body. Picantorian Neutral Newbie April 30, 2007 Share April 30, 2007 serious eh.. like that will give wrong impression or not? for me, i will wear.. no matter how ugly it is.. it has to be close to my heart and i want to bring it wherever i go.
Sony 1st Gear April 30, 2007 Share April 30, 2007 yeap ... if i hv a choice ... i will heck the clarity (VS1 enough liao) then focus on the color and carat F color min ... 1K for the size nobody is going to use a microscope and pinpoint out the dots inside (as long you dont try to sell it back) G colour is the min you shd go for... F also can but G is more common.. thus it bring down the price by a few hundred if you going for a less than 1 caret. Go for bigger size...Cut rating to be min Very good.. Sony 1st Gear April 30, 2007 Share April 30, 2007 ok lar.. same as Lee Hwa, Goldheart, SK and SooKee... a few hundred $ different... actually all these are just gimmick.. yes, it's cutting is more, and give out more brilliant.. but that's under the ideal lighting.. otherwise, it's still a rock.. Put a Swarovski crystal beside it.. and some layman might not even know the difference..
Kianbeng Clutched April 30, 2007 Share April 30, 2007 What Panda mentioned in his post is very correct. But right now, you are so much in love, you probably won't agree with him. Sometimes such is life. You need to go thru then find out. Good luck
Sony 1st Gear April 30, 2007 Share April 30, 2007 Report have said that GIA consistently give a higher rating compared to AGS in a blind test.. thus AGS might be more stringent in their rating.. Anyway, end of the day, are they really going to sell off the proposal ring?

Mica_blue Neutral Newbie April 30, 2007 Author Share April 30, 2007 (edited) Wah so much info to digest . Thank you all for your valuable advice . Didnt know that we have so many diamond experts in a car forum . I think you guys are even better than those in the wedding forum Actually why I agree with her that it shall be a Tiffany , becos most of her female friends did not get Tiffany but choose the other brands instead . ... So even though if it 's over priced , i think it 's more unique and special to get a Tiffany . She's worth to bleed . . The most dun spend on car mods for the next 2 yrs loh Edited April 30, 2007 by Mica_blue

Nokes Neutral Newbie April 30, 2007 Share April 30, 2007 Just did my ring shopping 6 months ago, did tons of research.. 6k should be able to get you a 0.4 Tiffany Lucida ring, but if you are looking for the classic 6 prong Tiffany Solitaire then I'm afraid you will have to top up a bit more.. If you are looking for a Hearts & Arrows diamond, my recommendation is forget the local LeeHwas and Sookees.. They are way overpriced for a locally branded H&A.. Nobody recognise the Destinee or the Brilliant Rose out of SG.. Do it online, www.whiteflash and www.goodoldgold.com are some of the more reputable ones.. If you have to see the diamond and touch it for yourself, then I recommend the Ideal cut Lazare diamond from Larry's.. www.lazarediamond.com You should get a decent specced rock with your budget.. And if you can wait till the end of the year, they usually have a 20% sale.. If you want something special and not common when everyone has a Destinee or a Brilliant rose, you can consider the 105-facets Gabrielle diamonds www.gabriellediamonds.com available at Charlotte Atelier. If your GF want the branding, then go for Tiffany.. If she wants a good bling, then go for those internationally recognised diamonds like Lazare, Gabrielle or even Hearts on Fire.. Have fun shopping.. PM me if you need more help..
Wind 1st Gear April 30, 2007 Share April 30, 2007 (edited) i bought a tiffany solitare 0.31cts last year for 5k. a 0.3 ct cost a k lesser, with similar spec. anyway with this price the color, clarity, cut every thing was top. while 0.3 may look small on spec, the tiffany cut really sparkles. i have female colleagues wearing pretty big stones (am sure is 0.4 or more) but the sparkle is not comparable to the tiffany. and a 0.31 looks just proportional on my gal. and yes, tiffany accepts OCBC card instalment. lastly one last reason that i bought a tiffany is that, i knew this is the only time that i will almost willingly buy a Tiffany Diamond Ring for her. Ask the bros around, how many of us actually promised your wifey that u will buy one Tiffany in the later years, and have never fulfiled that promise..... hence, i did that one stupid thing such that she does not have any later regrets. and neither did i eat my words. Sabian Turbocharged April 30, 2007 Share April 30, 2007 If "Tiffany" is going to be the deal breaker for your marriage and you are ok about it. Get her the Tiffany. If "Tiffany" is not going to be the third party in your marital bliss, do your part and find out more abt diamonds. There are many shops in S'pore that do have individual stones with GIA (and other cert) stones. Get one that has the characteristics that fit your (or hers if she has) order of priority. The shop that you purchase the stone from shd be able to do your casing for the stone. If there is a design that you have in mind, show them your photo/ sketch. That was what I did for my wife. (If you choose this route and need details, PM me.) Remember, a diamond is priceless, not in the literal sense. If you think you car hemorrhages your finances, you shd try a diamond ring. At the end of the day, no wrong or right, just as long as you both agree to it as it will apply to all future "challenges" that come your way.
