  1. I was told by the other branch of Shell that another Shell station at Yishun Ring Road (near Yishun Ave 5) is closing down and giving out vouchers for at least $30 petrol pumping. But those vouchers can only be used at 3 Shell stations. One @ Yishun Street 11 and another near SSC and followed by third place which I could not recall. So, those bros and sis staying in Yishun or sembawang might want to give it a try. It is till 25 March 2016. I will probably try next week.
  2. Spotted somewhere on the many pages of Facebook is a post where a motorcyclist managed to do a proposal with the help of his mates on the road. Done somewhere in our MCE tunnel, Hasan Sanny and his wife-to-be were supposed to be married on the 29th of Aug 2020. However due to the pandemic, the wedding had to be postponed. Not wanting to let that defeat him, the motorcyclist got his friends who then rode on 3 different bikes and wore t-shirts with the words "Marry Me ?" to carry out the proposal. Did he managed to get his girl of his dream? Watch the video here and see for yourself!
  3. Hi Guys, Need your inputs and thoughts of this product that is micmicking Spoon's Rigid Collar. Do you think this is a good add-on regardless of either Stiff Ring or Rigid Collar? Quote : Stiff Ring Stiff Ring, aka anti-vibration washer, is made of special formula aluminium. It is used to correct the car body basic geometry by filling the gap between the subframe bolts, subframe and the car chassis bolt hole. Thus, by correcting the geometry setup with Stiff Ring, the car handling will be improved significantly. Rigid Collar - Youtube video

  6. Kazakhstan: Mysterious black ring spotted floating in the sky I hope there is a mcfer who are good in science here to tell us more about it. Residents spotted a mysterious phenomenon in the sky above the Shortandy village, near Astana, Saturday. Roughly one kilometre (0.6 miles) above ground, a large black ring was floating in the air for around 15 minutes. It then disappeared completely, leaving no trace behind. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTLhPo5Iv3A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NTz5cbltXA

  8. Taken from Yahoo News: 5 Reasons to Skip the Diamond Engagement Ring Wise Bread, On Wednesday 11 August 2010, 1:12 SGT You're ready. You have the entire scene planned out in your head, every detail plotted and mapped until it's perfect. At the climax of this mini-drama, he will bend on one knee and present to you a beautiful diamond ring -- or, if you're the one proposing, you will watch as her expression changes from surprise to utter delight when she sees the ring. And that's when you'll know: Yes, you're getting married. Or so the diamond industry would like you to believe. The sole purpose of this appealing fantasy is to drum up sales. Once you look past the mythos of the diamond engagement ring, you'll see that it's not much more than a shiny rock. Here are five good reasons to skip the diamond engagement ring. 1. It isn't an ancient tradition -- just marketing For all intents and purposes, "A Diamond is Forever" and the idea of a diamond engagement ring is Sprite's "Obey Your Thirst" and Nike's "Just Do It." It is Gary Dahl's "Pet Rock." De Beers controlled supply by buying up and closing down any diamond mine discovered, and they controlled demand by making it sentimental. Although the campaign is less than 70 years old, it has made the diamond engagement ring the ultimate symbol of how much the relationship, the girl, and love itself is worth. 2. Diamonds are rare! Or not It's true, diamonds are abundant. For generations, De Beers had stockpiled most of the world's diamond supply and effectively monopolized the industry. Their dominance has weakened over the last decade, but De Beers and its competitors still control the supply of diamonds entering the market. While most gems are valued based on their rarity, diamonds are different. Their scarcity is artificial -- and so is their value. 3. Other options look just as impressive and cost much less Moissanite looks just like a diamond; the difference is undetectable with the naked eye. In fact, moissanite is actually more brilliant. If, for whatever reason, you're stuck on the diamond ring idea, synthetic or "cultured" diamonds are the real deal. They're made in a machine that replicates the environmental forces that make diamonds. They're real diamonds, only with less flaws. A synthetic 2-carat pink diamond costs just a few thousand dollars, and a 1-carat moissanite ring is under $1000. 4. You can invest in something more meaningful/useful/fun than a piece of jewelry Many women simply enjoy having a beautiful collection -- and that's fine (if you can afford it). For most people, though, a diamond engagement ring is fun to show off for about 30 seconds. But it's special, right? Because it marks your engagement and symbolizes your love? Remember, that's De Beers's marketing campaign talking. Three-plus months' salary would be better spent on furnishing your home, an amazing trip, or your future kids' college funds! 5. It's hard to get around the ethical issues surrounding the diamond industry Terrorist groups use conflict/blood diamonds to finance their activities. Rebel groups use them to fuel conflict and civil wars. In these conflict zones, children are being used as soldiers. The Kimberley Process is an agreement that was established to prevent conflict diamonds from getting into the market, but the self-policing system is far from perfect. One way to fool the Kimberley Process is to smuggle and mix conflict diamonds with legally traded ones before being certified -- and you, the buyer, would be none the wiser. Regards,
  9. The Ring. The Green Hell. Whatever its nickname, Germany’s Nurburgring is worshipped by driving enthusiasts everywhere as one of the longest and toughest racing circuits in the world. Built in 1927 but modified several times since then, the heart of the Nurburgring is the Nordschleife (“North Loop”) – located about 170 kilometres to the east of Frankfurt, 20.832 kilometres in length and with no less than 154 corners, many of them blind ones. It’s a one-way toll road open to the motoring public, whether in a car or on a motorcycle. You could drive there in a beat-up jalopy and they’ll still let you do the “loop”, but you wouldn’t get anywhere near the current lap record of under 7 minutes (achieved by a Radical SR8, which isn’t really a street-legal car in my book). My ride wasn’t radical, but it was capable of attacking the Ring, thanks to a turbocharged 3-litre 6-cylinder pumping 320bhp to the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic. It was a BMW M135i. Why not a 420bhp M3, you ask? Well, I planned to use the same vehicle to tour Europe after my hot laps on the North Loop, so I needed something more economical than a 4-litre V8. Also, I figured that a “slower” performance car would be safer for me on the Nurburgring. As I was there on a Sunday just after lunchtime, there were almost as many spectators (complete with picnic baskets and zoom lenses) as drivers. Pulling up to join the line of cars waiting to enter the monster, I started feeling a little inadequate. While my machine wasn’t the least powerful in the snaking queue, it was definitely the only one that was 100 per cent stock. As far as I could tell, the minimum modification in my group was either a lowered suspension or a deafeningly loud exhaust system. Some cars had both. Finally, it was my turn at the toll barrier, which lifted and allowed me onto the track. Then it started to drizzle… Great! My very first lap on an unfamiliar circuit, in a fast car that didn’t belong to me and it had to rain on my parade. The rainfall also made me think about insurance coverage in the event of an accident (apparently, I was covered as long as I could prove that I wasn’t timing my lap). And my 75-year-old dad was seated alongside all this while. I silently cursed myself for not practising beforehand on a Playstation, and for not reading the Dummies’ Guide to the Nurburgring that a kind friend had e-mailed to this Ring rookie. Thank goodness the M135i (pictured) has traction control and dynamic stability control – I kept both systems switched on. When an E36 M3 in front of me fishtailed and went off the track within just 20 corners, I was glad to have the M135’s electronic guardians on standby to save my skin if needed. I didn’t pussyfoot around, though – this adrenaline-fuelled Singapore lion overtook a Scirocco, complete with roll cage, and dashed past a 911 GT3. I even managed to catch up with a CR-Z mutant hybrid that was spitting flames from its exhaust pipes. I felt like a “Yang” Senna and the feeling was good, until a 1985 Golf GTI passed me on the outside of a corner and promptly deflated my overboosted ego. After four laps back to back on the partially damp, partially dry track, there was perspiration on my skin and pain in my hands. Tackling the Ring was hard, and I tried hard. Most importantly, I survived the drive, even though my hands were aching so much afterwards that I couldn’t Whatsapp my friends about my “adrena-Ring” rush. Yes, 10 minutes per lap is nothing to write home about, and I doubt Nissan will be hiring me to help break the production car Ring lap record in the next-generation GT-R. But at least I’ve ticked one big box in my boyracer bucket list. This article was written by Yang, freelance writer for Torque.

  14. As we know for aftermarket sport rim, sometime the centre hub doesn't fit exactly to the car. So a plastic centric ring is used for aftermarket rim fittment. I heard that rubber ring is better than aluminium type as it take vibration better...of course down side is that, it have to be changed frequently if it deformed. It can changed during tyre rotation....Do anyone have experience in this to share? And is these rings absolutely needed?
  15. Would you buy an engagement ring from a pawn shop? (and would you tell you fiancee?) Please explain / justify your answer. Just asking out of curiosity. If the ring is in a pawnshop then it is one of four situations a) Divorce (eww - how much bad luck is that for you?) b) Theft (hmm - you might have to give it back) c) Death - (You wanna wear a dead persons ring?) d) Bad luck / bankruptcy etc etc (that can't bring you flowers and sunshine for your own marriage right?) On the plus side - you might get a great ring at a great price
  16. Anybody can provide me the contact for shops that customised anti-slip ring(silver or gold color) on our car mat? I remembered someone ever posted here the shop that customised this on our car mat but just can't find the thread with several keywords tried. thanks in advance.
  17. My passenger side Osram Nightbreaker bulb just blew after approx 1.5years of use, and as a follow up from this thread Philips or Osram, I'm posting an initial review and comparison of the Ring Xenon Ultima's +120% bulbs that I just bought from Trex's store and changed. This is for the dual filament H4 fitting. Bulbs Have a look at the following image. The Nightbreaker is on the left, the Xenon Ultima on the right As you can see the Xenon Ultima's have taken a design more akin to Philip's Xtreme Visions with a single more intense shade of blue, but in a strip just before the cap vs the more subdued metallic shade of blue on the Nightbreakers which cover the entire bulb leaving a strip untinted where the low beam filament is. Aesthetics (Lights Off) With the Nightbreakers, my headlamp assembly had a uniform steel blue/titanium-esque look. With the Xenon Ultimas, it has more of a mirror finish with blue highlights. I definately prefer the Nightbreakers in this regard. Aesthetics (Lights On) Have a look at this following image, the passenger side is using Xenon Ultima's, the drivers Nightbreakers This is on low beam. Its only slightly noticeable, but when looking head on at the car, the Xenon Ultima's definately have a whiter look. In my haste, I forgot to take a shot with high beams, however the Xenon Ultima's seem to remain the same, but the Nightbreakers have a whiter look. Light output/throw colour wise, I find the Nightbreakers more white even though while looking at the headlight assembly, it seems more yellow. This is even more noticeable when high beams are on. Overall I do prefer how the Nightbreakers look in this regard too. Brightness This is where the Xenon Ultima's come into their own. Regardless of high or low beams, the Xenon Ultima's do look significantly brighter. Have a look at the second image again. The flare is a lot more noticeable on the passenger side. When driving out of the building, even when lit by overcast skies and building lights, I could at least see a shadow of the throw by the Xenon Ultima's. This is something other bulbs I've used haven't been able to do. Thus far I do far prefer the Xenon Ultima's in this regard. One thing that everyone should note is that both bulbs output is more yellow when you first turn them on (like every other incandescent bulb), but get whiter after a few minutes of use. Initial Take Although I will update with another post on the brightness (though I strongly believe the manufacturers claims on light output to be correct) after I drive out and get back home tonight, for those who prefer a more overall aesthetically pleasing look, with increased brightness over stock, the Nightbreakers are it. In brightly lit Singapore they should be more than sufficient, and they have been very good on all my night drives to and from KL. For those who like me who do prefer the additional brightness and/or the whiter looking headlamp assembly as we're on low beams most of the time, you can't go past the Xenon Ultima's. P.S. Just in-case anyone wants to know how the Philips Xtreme Vision bulb looks like in comparison to these two Based on its design and gazillion comparisons between it and the Nightbreakers, I believe it should slot nicely between the the Nightbreakers in the Xenon Ultima's in most respects.
  18. Encounter with this SFB 3..7 Medium Blue Honda Civic I was turning right from Stagmont Ring, The vehicle on my right side have illegal HID installed, caused extra glare on my already wet windscreen, thus, I could not really see if any pedestrian is crossing the road, so i tap on the brake to slow... slow... because it's raining... I think this prick got irritated by me for me being cautious and being responsible.. Thus, for that small road, he tailgate me very close on this poor visibility and wet road, overtook me on upon approaching left bend on my right where he could hardly see oncoming car. So when his car was coming out behind me halfway, I just gently tap on the brake (with no slowing down and no intention of him colliding onto me), just to give him a scare , he end up got more pissed off, exchanged eye contact and chiong the bend and to stop for the red light in front to. Genius. Raining, drive properly and safely! Although I have been cursing for your car to skid, hit tree, hit barrier, then you might learn how to drive more responsibly.

  23. Kuala Lumpur (The Star/ANN) - Malaysian police have smashed a car theft syndicate which supplies vehicle parts in the illegal market in the peninsula. Six men, in their 30s, were arrested and more than 5 million ringgit (US$1.6 million) worth of stolen car spare parts were recovered, making it the biggest car theft ring to have been busted this year. Federal CID director Comm Datuk Seri Bakri Zinin said a special operation conducted raids in Malacca and Johor on April 8 and 9 respectively. In Malacca, police raided three houses in Batu Berendam and Durian Tunggal, which were used to store car parts. "The dismantled car components, including engines, were taken from stolen vehicles," he said. He added two men were detained while six cars and a lorry were seized during the raid. In a follow-up operation, police raided five places in Johor Baru, including two spare-part dealerships and a storage facility. Four men were arrested. Comm Bakri said police recovered 1,603 car parts totalling about 5 million ringgit from various Proton models including Wira, Saga, Iswara Aeroback, Waja and Hicom lorries. He added the police believed they have solved at least 250 car theft cases by the syndicate. Comm Bakri said the cases were being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for vehicle theft. The six have been remanded to facilitate investigations. On the Sarawak election, Comm Bakri said the police have adequate personnel to oversee public security during the period. He advised people to not listen to rumours and the spread of malicious text messages. Regards,
