  1. Just nice for me, I was looking to replace a dead Samsung washer. Not worth repairing. All HDB households to get S$300 in Climate Vouchers The vouchers will be valid from Apr 15 this year until the end of December 2027 SINGAPORE: Families living in Housing Board (HDB) flats will receive S$300 (US$223) in Climate Vouchers to purchase more efficient appliances, said Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment Amy Khor on Monday (Mar 4). The vouchers are part of the enhanced Climate Friendly Households Programme and come after an initial set of vouchers was given to households in smaller flats. "With these enhancements, we hope to incentivise more households to choose resource-efficient options from the outset, or when their appliances and fittings are due for replacement," Dr Khor said in parliament during her ministry's budget debate. The new e-vouchers will be available to all 1.1 million HDB households from Apr 15 this year until Dec 31, 2027. They will come in a mix of denominations and can be used to buy 10 types of energy- and water-efficient household products. New products – such as direct current fans, washing machines, air-conditioners and heat pump water heaters – have been added to the mix.

  3. I was told by the other branch of Shell that another Shell station at Yishun Ring Road (near Yishun Ave 5) is closing down and giving out vouchers for at least $30 petrol pumping. But those vouchers can only be used at 3 Shell stations. One @ Yishun Street 11 and another near SSC and followed by third place which I could not recall. So, those bros and sis staying in Yishun or sembawang might want to give it a try. It is till 25 March 2016. I will probably try next week.

PHOTOS GSTV - U-Save and Special Payment schedule. Source: MOF. ENLARGE CAPTION SINGAPORE: In the first week of July, about 1.6 million Singaporeans will receive letters informing them of their 2014 GST Voucher (GSTV), as well as other Budget 2014 benefits such as the 2014 GSTV Special Payments, the 5-Year Medisave top-up, as well as the Service and Conservancy Charges (S&CC) rebates, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) said in a press release on Monday (June 30). Most Singaporeans will automatically receive their GSTV payouts and 5-Year Medisave top-ups, the MOF said. Those who have not signed up for past Government payouts and/or are not CPF members will receive letters informing them of the actions they need to take by Dec 31 to receive their benefits. The benefits are as follows: GSTV – CASH AND GSTV – CASH: SENIORS’ BONUS About 1.3 million Singaporeans will receive the GSTV – Cash on Aug 1. Of this group, about 660,000 Singaporeans aged 55 and above will also receive the GSTV – Cash: Seniors’ Bonus, which will see them receiving double the GSTV – Cash amount in 2014. The GSTV – Cash and GSTV – Cash: Seniors’ Bonus will cost the Government S$505 million, the MOF said. GSTV – MEDISAVE About 380,000 Singaporeans aged 65 and above will also receive the GSTV – Medisave top-up on Aug 1, at a cost to the Government of S$115 million. GSTV – U-SAVE AND GSTV – U-SAVE SPECIAL PAYMENT The regular GST Voucher – U-Save will be given out quarterly, the MOF said. In addition, a Special Payment will be given out in July 2014 and January 2015. These vouchers will offset utilities directly and cost the Government S$290 million in total. In July, 800,000 households will receive S$90 to S$195 each in rebates, depending on the type of flat they stay in. ADDITIONAL MEDISAVE TOP-UPS UNDER 5-YEAR MEDISAVE TOP-UP SCHEME As announced in Budget 2014, Singaporeans born on or before Dec 31, 1959 - in other words, those aged 55 and above in 2014 - and who do not enjoy Pioneer Generation benefits will receive Medisave top-ups of S$100 or S$200 annually over the next five years, the ministry said. About 530,000 Singaporeans will benefit at a cost to the Government of S$100 million. Those who stay in homes of Annual Value above S$13,000 or who own more than one property will receive S$100 a year. "The vast majority - those living in HDB flats who do not own more than one property - will get the higher top-up of S$200 a year," the MOF announced. More information on the GST Voucher can be found at www.gstvoucher.gov.sg. 17. STOMPer Alex was appalled that the manager at Ben & Jerry's Orchard Central outlet, rudely told his family off that their bill was only for $28 when they presented a voucher to pay with. Said the STOMPer in his email: "My family and I dined at Ben & Jerry's Orchard Central outlet today (Mar 26) at about 9pm.We had the most unpleasant experience and that left a bad taste in our mouths. "We were appalled by the rudeness and audacity of the staff in the store, having the supervisor speak to us in a rude manner was bad enough, when we requested to speak to the manager, Mr Jeff, his tone was equally bad, if not, worse off than his subordinates. "This is the gist of the incident. Upon arrival at the restaurant, we presented a discount voucher issued by UOB bank to one of the waiters to check if we can use this voucher. The waiter was not sure and he proceeded to enquire from his supervisor, a China lady by the name of Jennifer. She confirmed that we were able to use the voucher and we went on to order our food and ice-cream. She then returned the voucher to us. "After we finished our food, we called for the bill and presented the voucher once again. The supervisor, Jennifer brought the bill to us and also collected our voucher, she returned shortly after and told us that the voucher has expired and could not be used anymore. "We were surprised as she was the one who gave the approval to use the voucher. A slight argument ensued and I guess for the fear of being reprimanded, Jennifer insisted it was solely our mistake and repeatedly mentioned many times that we should have checked the voucher before using and it was all our fault! "At that moment, she could not find anymore excuses and we demanded to see the manager. The assistant dining manager came out and before we could speak, he told us, 'yes, you can use the voucher provided it was not expired'. "We reasoned that it was his supervisor who told us we could use the voucher and that was why we sat down to order our ice-cream, how could he turn the tables around and say such illogical excuses? "We held our grounds and told Jeff that this verification was done by his waiter and supervisor. He should not deny and he did check with Jennifer. Seeing that there was no way out, Jeff mentioned very rudely, 'it is just $28, I can buy you the dinner'. "To my utmost astonishment and shock, that was not what I was expecting from a manager! Was he looking down on me by saying such things in a very rude tone? I warned him not to be rude and he mentioned once again, 'it is only $28 lah. I can buy for you'. He then walked away. "Actually I was pinpointing at the rudeness of the supervisor, but seeing how rude and uncouth the manager is, I forgave her and thought to myself, maybe this is Ben & Jerry's way of protecting their staff and subordinates, by standing on the staff side and oppose all customers regardless! "This will be my last visit to Ben & Jerry's. Customers to Ben & Jerry's at Orchard Central, beware."
