Just got flashed in KPE on 31 Oct. Not sure if its speed camera but realised its probably that after reading the forum thread here. Now really really worried if the police will take action. not sure of the travelling speed too [smallcry] On my repeat drive through the KPE realised there are signs above saying PLS DO NOT SPEED [blush] Wonder If the Speed Camera Issue should have been mentioned in the guide attached to the straits times and sent to residents around KPE. I received the same black piece of guide in the post - am an East Coast Resident.

Am quite sure I think its very very important to mention the speed limit of 70kph instead of saying things like variable speed limit etc. Probably mentioning the presence of Speed Camera too. Never know there is one. I guess its important to prevent or avoid accidents but I thought it should be the same as the CTE tunnel and hence drove more than 90kph - not sure of the exact speed when I was flashed. Now v v v worried sigh.... [crazy]

they need to cover the cost ...

AFAIC, those 3,378 motorist cannot blame TP this time. The speed limit had already been publicised widely and even provide extensive information about the tunnel thru mail and the Internet way before 1st phase KPE opening.

If garmen wanna make extra revenue, they could have easily turn on those brand new EPR gantries at every exit from the tunnel. Won't that be even cheaper and less troublesome than sending summons or invitation letters to court those 3,378 offenders?

Ignorance some times is bliss. In this case, it is a blessing in disguise as I see pple becoming more aware now, much thx to those motorist getting caught speeding while proving the laser system effectiveness.

FYI, these cameras are slightly larger than those street CCTV used by LTA and are installed in white box-shaped container. Drive slower next time in KPE and u can easily spot them. But this time, don't road hog hor. [flowerface]

OT a bit. last sunday drove into KPE from PIE. I want to exit fort rd to Bayshore...while in tunnel, saw 2 paths in front of me....the fuking stupid signboards are not working and I ended up choosing the right path and ended up heading back to Rochor Road...damm. fxxk tunnel.

LOL.. they should have used plain old signboards. so much for being tech savvy

there are no warning signs about speed trap camera at all!

The 1st warning sign from the electronic board is: "PLS DO NOT SPEED". Next is "TURN ON HEADLIGHTS". Then 1 more "PLS DO NOT SPEED"

Well done to LTA [thumbsdown][thumbsdown][thumbsdown]

Please refer to the below video footage for evidence.

write in to Straits Times forum ([email protected]) and Today (news@ newstoday.com.sg) to complain!

Remember to include your full name, contact number and address.

here's what i wrote:

I would like to suggest that LTA revise Nicoll Highway's and KPE's current

speed limit of 70km/h upwards to at least 80km/h.

Since cars have been caught speeding in the KPE tunnel at speeds of up to

140km/h without incident, it would be unreasonable to assume that we

cannot safely negotiate the KPE at just 80km/h.

Similarly, Nicoll Highway would not be be significantly more hazardous to

negotiate at 80 or even 90km/h.

To maintain a 70km/h speed limit on roads that are long, pedestrian-free

and have no sharp bends is an exercise in frustration as it is

unnecessarily low.

If LTA's rationale for maintaining such low limits is to reduce the risk

of accidents, then why don't we take that logic a little further and

reduce the limits on all roads to 50km/h?

I was actually going to end with this:

Or is setting low limits and fining those who exceed them a revenue-generating exercise?

but i was afaid they wouldn't print it the whole thing with that in...

i believe this is the first road in singapore that i drive with speed trap camera but without any warning notice. I am 100% sure there's no warning. Only for the please do not speed, which we often see on normal roads as well. No such thing to get summon for that.

Was trying out the KPE just now. Filtered in from PIE, appeared I am only car heading into tunnel. Was travelling at about 80km/h just cruising to enjoy the new road. Then a few hundred meters after I passed the entrance, I saw a flash from behind! My wife also saw it too. I noticed there's a 70km/h speed limit signboard later. Geez! How come no warning signs one? What an experience. Now don't know whether its speed cam or something on trial one. Anyone kena too?

2 weeks have passed, what I predicted has come true!! Guess there's no "pang chance". Can someone tell me how to appeal for such offences?
