idiot or not that is one of the most BS Laws I have seen in all times. Its like telling the shop next door to raise its prices cos you are pulling all the customers. Absolutely absurd. And then forcing the people to do it. Laws like this doensnt help *either country

seriously i am in for this law.

in fact, i will rather they be more strict about this.

why?

It causes a lot inconvenience to people who are travelling when there is always a jam caused by drivers who are going in for the cheap petrol.

although i stay in woodlands, when travelling to far place like genting, i will still take 2nd link.

not only i have to travel from woodlands to tuas, i have to pay both tolls too.

I think there is a gst to pay, if they want to enforce it.

It's an import tariff that Customs might choose to levy on any goods brought in from overseas.....

GST is only levied on goods and services sold in Singapore.

SG always claims to b an "open" economy but practice protectionism in many guises.

The only reason I can see is to generate more revenue for the gharmen at the expense of the citizens. Pure & simple.

Many years back, it used to be half tank only then it became 3/4. Getting less $$$ from petrol tax I guess.

================

They have to find ways & means to cover their losses. Easiest is to get from the citizens ma. They try getting from overseas but always come back with their tail between their legs & bleeding badly. [smallcry]

and someone was saying singapore is a free market economy? unimpressed.gif

then might as well also implement 3/4 bag full luggage bags.. every few months some of my seow friends would go shopping in hk.. all come back with loads of stuffs..

===========================

I think SG is the only country that do not allow pple returning from overseas to bring in 1 carton of cigarettes. [thumbsdown]

Again revenue related? [sly]

this regulation if i'm not wrong was imposed in part

to protect M'sia fuel market.

as we all know petrol is heavily subsidize there.

do recall to not so long ago, about banning all SG registered

cars pumping petrol there.

so this regulation serves 2 purposes, i reckon.

anyway, i dunno if this guy is considered an idiot lah

to me, if u wanna to break the law, be prepare then for the law

to catch up with him one day

======================

No lah. SG dont care 5hit if we raid the economy of our neighbour.

Its purely revenue related. Our revenue. [laugh]

If you are operating a petrol kiosk here in Singapore, I wonder would you have said the same about the law?

=======================

Then our gharmen sud also protect ALL other businesses here.

Unfortunately they always claim we r an OPEN economy & they wil not step in to protect anybody, except themselves. [furious]

malaysia no longer subsidize their petrol now, so do u think sg can lift the 3/4 rule now? i think wait long long [:|]

================

We r hoping & waiting & praying. [gossip]

Only hope for gharmen to remove any protection on our oil products/industry when there is no tax/duty on oil products anymore.

GST is levied for all goods and services....even if its imported dude.

All the stuff that pple import all pay GST one....just that the vendors will charge you GST and then claim from gov....so that there is no double taxation.

There is a GST waiver....S$400 for travellers if you left the country for more than 48 hrs. ie if your purchases is below S$400 per person, you can dun need to pay GST.

Neutral Newbie
Seems like someone Bao Tou him. I see so many cars go in everyday, why would they target him?

Maybe those who go in every week will be tracked?
