some of those I worked for and also from my own sis in law who is working for a large US company also have their MD receiving abt just over 300K+..amd we are talking abt MD which is a higher position than GM..

not forgetting a company which my bro worked for before had its CEO receving just 300K per annum..its not a big company but still not a small one for company with over 200 employees I think..

dude, let's just take it that it's different industry so it's different.

not all MNCs are made the same....

some small one pay more than big one.

Different industry pays differently of cos...I just dun think what I quoted was below the norm...

Going back to manager pay, myself with experience of seeing such positions tat go at 100,000-130,000 most of the time with a few exceptions of some being 150,000..I know of people being offered CFO positions with 150,000-200,000 pay per annum and CFO position is abt as senior as a GM in most companies..my fren was also offered a manager equivalent position at GSK and the package is under 100k!

Turbocharged

My understanding a little different and higher. Those in US MNCs typically earn more than what you quoted. But that could be due to different industry, different pay.

For the larger local co (listed), pay also higher than that. But for the SME (family biz) turned listed, usually pay not that competitive. Gues most of the money still go back to majority shareholder.

I was wondering how you guys manage to know how much your CEOs, GMs and mgrs are drawing.

Slept with the payroll execs? [sweatdrop]

For normal ppl like us who earn less than 100k... we don't need to know, just eat our rice [laugh]

actually 100k/ annum not a lot lor..

it's only about 6k a month assuming AWS(1month) + VB(2-3month)

most ppl around 30-35 should be around there?

okay la... live in 4rm flat and lead a normal life. [flowerface]

Your definition of "normal" may not be normal to those earning less. [flowerface] but then, there is no true "normal" unless one lives in a truly communist state where everyone regardless of race, gender, capability etc lives in the same type of house, have the same food etc.

Actually, as long as one is happy without being a pest/nuisance to society, I think that is best.

Like you, I also live in a so-called 94m2 pigeon hole. But I am happy already. No urge to go higher and bigger (not that I can afford it, haha) and be very afraid that I can't support the mortgage payments when I lose my job.

Knowing how much seniors, management earns is good Something to look forward to and strive for. [thumbsup]

Know how much the guy who is beside you and doing lesser than you earns is not a good choice. For all you know he could be double your salary. [sweatdrop]

It depends on which industry.

What you say is true if you are referring to certain oil & gas/offshore marine/financial sectors.

Back to this, who actually slept with the payroll execs? How else would one know?

I dont think anyone would willing reveal their compensation package.

Or rather, do the GMs, CEOs like to tua kang about their pay packages? I definitely do not know what my manager is earning.

What i think is that we have to look at the pay a local CEO/GM/mgr/whatever gets, i feel that those extremely high figures paid to higher management are for expats. Here's why:

Our com issues hard copies of payslips every month. Not sealed, just a piece of paper like those MC from doctors. One of my colleagues saw an expat's payslip by accident, and I saw my superior's payslip by accident. We compared. Expat salary = 2 x local. Both are mgrs.

I say: what the fark.

it all boils down to industry, profession and most importantly LUCK to end up at what job !
