Thanks for the explanation! Great to meet like minded people here on MCF [thumbsup] ! In my car, you really have to use strength to change gears, friends of mine tell me that they can hear the gear change from far away [blush]

Yes, it is actually scary to drive an auto car, IMO driving an auto isn't really driving at all, it's more like commuting [sleeping]

i would have fallen asleep while driving yesterday, had it been an auto car i was driving [sleeping]

really damn shag.. [sleeping] [sleeping]

Sure or not bro...poor owner car??

I believe its really depends on the maker and who is their target audience. Nowadays most like to aim for high end executive folks who just wants a cool ride and expensive looks without the "hassle" of a manual ride. This is where commercial viability overtakes passion.

ya, manual is for the poor man or the really rich man.

seriously, family background is more important. like myself, i would def have got manual if my wife can drive manual. but as we all know, there aren't many! or any???

that's a misconception.

in Singapore (and many parts of Asia), luxury car buyers tend to prefer automatic cars for city traffic. this is why importers, distributors and dealers offer only automatic cars because having another "option" means having to invest into homologation, spare parts, servicing etc. so it doesn't make economical sense for them to offer a manual version even though the factory has one. this is why most high end cars come here only with automatic.

many luxury and sports cars still come with manual gearboxes as standard from the factory and automatic is an added-cost extra.

why do entry-level cars come with manuals? because cost is a factor involved in this sector of the market and manual gearboxes are cheaper than automatic units. it's less complicated as well for servicing, etc. that is why they offer manual versions. not to mention there's a bigger mass of such cars, they are able to provide more options.
