Yep I saw API SL. But my car is 12.5 years old...hahaha.

But I don’t think it’s manufactured in 2018. From the right hand bottom at the back, the DOM seems to be 011219. I stand corrected though.

The date of manufacturer is at the base of the bottle - 0518

lazada bday sale ongoing, not sure if any good deals.

Previously always let AD change my engine oil, last servicing I noticed they charged $23.50/L, so here I am venturing into cheaper engine oils..

a few noob qns: 1) recommended is 5w30 but can I use 0w30 or 10w30? Singapore has no winter so I imagine the W-rating means next to nothing in Sg context.

2) my ride is 1.2NA note, so it's as b&b as it gets. Quite heavy footed and mileage is 16-17k km/yr. Should I be too concerned about what brand of engine oil I use? Or even say Mobil 1 5w30 got a few different 'flavours' to choose from?

Should not be a problem at all whichever mix you use as long as w30. Brand of engine oil is more about the various additives in the oil but for budget conscious, any brand as long as cheap and reputable, it is ok.

I would recommend you to use 5-20wt.  That's what likely what is recommended in owner manual.

Many workshop don’t use 20 weight oil, even 30 weight oil also rare. They like to use 40 weight oil which to me is too thick.

Ended up buying a few Mobil 1 for a little under 15 bucks/qt. Not the best deal I guess but I hope to do better next time.

How to see what's the mfg date? Is it 02/2017?

The temperature only 34 degrees.

The engine already more than 34 degrees.

So what does hot weather have anything to do with engine oil viscosity?

Buy according to engine oil specifications not the weather in Singapore.

:D
