Joseph22 Turbocharged October 27, 2010 Share October 27, 2010 Actually males do have a certain genetic advantage when it comes to driving. It is proven (scientifically) that males (collectively) have better spatial perception than females. This means that they are better at judging speed and distance. Of course - this is collectively, it says nothing about one individual vs another. IIRC got other things too. ↡ Advertisement

Jamesc Hypersonic October 27, 2010 Share October 27, 2010 honestly i've been guilty of this a few times when i see that the road is clear and there are no cars around, i sometimes drift into the 1st lane and continue slowly on that lane but if the driver behind gives me a courtesy flash, i'll immediately speed up if i can't get into lane 2, or i'll immediately filter into lane 2 i think its polite to give a courtesy flash, others might take it negatively though If lanes 2 and 3 are clear, I will never flash at car on lane 1. I will just overtake on lane 3.

In an accident they always remember it was the other driver's fault.
Nzy Twincharged October 27, 2010 Share October 27, 2010 what i suspect was that because i was filtering left, the car was in my right side then i filtered in slowly cause there wasn't any traffic, the car must have went from my right to my left thats why i didn't see the car at all anyway i consider myself to be a safe driver, i always signal and give way and i frequently speak out against my friends who share experiences where they speed up to avoid people filtering into their lanes but i really hate it when people tell me that i can't drive or that girls shouldn't own sports cars genetically a male has nothing to his advantage to help him drive a car so it is ridiculous to say that males make better drivers! unless somebody points out that males secretly have something like a 3rd eye behind their heads to help check for blindspots, i don't and won't believe that males are better drivers than females! That means u didnt check blindspot.

We do have a 3rd eye, but at the top of our "head", not behind. I can show you if you don't believe! Edited October 27, 2010 by Bighappyjer
Pisces69 6th Gear October 27, 2010 Share October 27, 2010 agree with you fully~ Few on the road adheres to safety rules after passing their tests. Especially hate those who don't give signals and anyhow cut in. Even worst are those who don't signal, cut in, find the lane too slow and cut out again, all without signal... Think they are race champions, rush like mad, but only to reach the traffic light a few minutes earlier. In singapore, speeding and rushing only save you a few minutes. But driving safely can save your life. Hope we'll all remind ourselves of this before we start our engine. Stay alive~ Glad that u agree wh me. There is 1 22 year old female driver who believe 2 car lengths at 100kmh is enough fr her. Lets hope she learn e easy way n hv a nasty accident but not injured. Otherwise e hard way is being carried away to e morgue after e accident.
Pisces69 6th Gear October 27, 2010 Share October 27, 2010 Why you reluctant to share this earlier? Sometimes i prefer not to answer to something which is obviously out of point. Let someone else point it out so e 1 who posted might accept that he has said something not right.
Pisces69 6th Gear October 27, 2010 Share October 27, 2010 You got the point. You are right. Safer choice, too. No need to follow others all the time I see e way some SG drivers behave on e road, i just shake head. Leave them to their own devices n hopefully ty wil learn their lesson soon. Pisces69 6th Gear October 27, 2010 Share October 27, 2010 After awhile, I have to take the precaution that more/many who filter into such gap with/without prior signalling would jammed brake immediately (testing my reaction time/braking distance?) Now that F1 has come to SG, we got more F1 drivers on e road. Michael Shoemaker wannabes.
Pisces69 6th Gear October 27, 2010 Share October 27, 2010 More/many who filter into 2-3-cars length gaps, immediately jammed their brakes, for having excessively accelerated earlier to get into such gaps (any Lane 1, 2, 3, same). Any wise recommendation to share? For me when i see someone try to squeeze in infront of me i just ease off n let them in. My ego very small 1. Pisces69 6th Gear October 27, 2010 Share October 27, 2010 Seems many travelling Lane 1 within speed limits are on their mobile. I usually do not pull up behind them. From a distance, I would look out for filtering into another lane (in case they got excited over the mobile and jammed brake) when I go behind them. I prefer to do it by giving e person a chance to do it e correct way. If i straight away overtake on his left n he suddenly swerve left n hit me, he turn around n say he want to give way to me but i try to b smart n overtake on his left, which is wrong. Then it become my fault.
Pisces69 6th Gear October 27, 2010 Share October 27, 2010 You got the point. You are right. Panic correctly into cadence braking (laugh) Thats why i hail ABS n air bags as 2 very important safety features after e driver. 1 helps to prevent an accident n e other helps to minimise e effects of an accident. Pisces69 6th Gear October 27, 2010 Share October 27, 2010 Perhaps that car in the mirror blindspot all the time? Unless she turned her head, she saw no car behind (missed the one besides her) I adjust my mirrors so there is a very small blind-spot n i wil move my head to check when i look into my mirrors to cover that small blind-spot.. Pisces69 6th Gear October 27, 2010 Share October 27, 2010 So sorry, I thought it is the car driver's reaction? ABS only try to compensate for all wheels skid continously when the driver did not practice cadence braking (driver never got the chance to improve skill). What if ABS malfunctioned when needed most (ever read of these on other forum) Most of our drivers dont even know what is cadence braking let alone know how to fo it correctly. But ABS is still much better cos it wil control each wheel individually which cadence braking cannot do. I wonder if all those claims of ABS malfunction is actually true? Pisces69 6th Gear October 27, 2010 Share October 27, 2010 Self-confessed tailgater? No worry. Since you self-confessed, attend some refresher driving lessons should help you Me tailgater? I dont recall saying i am a tailgater.
Fresh Clutched October 27, 2010 Share October 27, 2010 So you see, the safety distance is actually NOT for oneself, it's actually to give your car a smoother slow down, so that the rear car can have a safe emergency brake to avoid hitting your backside. Emergency braking is so easy in our modern car, 2car safety distance theoretically can braked in time. But it the kuku third car behind you that will not be able to brake in time, even if he is driving with the best BKK!!!! I L.L. have to agree you on this. its the asxhxlx tailgaters I have completely no confidence in. I mean tailgating already shows mental retardation. knn, and I'm not even on lane 1. but you are evil, and you gather bad karmaaaaaa~~~~~ may~~~~ you~~~~ be~~~~~ shafted~~~~~ on~~~~~~ a~~~~~~ safety~~~~~~ cone~~~~~~ ommm~~~~~~~
Pisces69 6th Gear October 27, 2010 Share October 27, 2010 actually if the car is travelling very fast. unless you are in NSH which the car is travelling very fast. its likely you did not judge his speed when glancing at the mirror. i know a lot of ppl just see mirro and blindspot clear then change lane. but did not consider ther movement speed of the car. Sometimes there is a car behind me which block e view of e car coming up very fast fm behind. All of a sudden he comes out fm behind n overtakes both of us at 1 go. ↡ Advertisement
