MAZDA 6

She is doing fine now......has resumed her daily travelling on the same road to fetch the kids home from school.

In fact, I called Mazda on the very same day the incident had happened, but all they said is that they will look into this. This is something we should pursue as auto lock is a common feature on other makes.

That's great bro!

Bro, I have no intention to disrupt your business. However this petition is to create awareness to the management of Transeurokars on the issue faced by the customer with the Autolock disabled.

The objective is to get the Authorized dealer to provide a solution that does not void the warranty. Hope this clarifies.

Should be a very easy fix from the software point of view... cos for my Sonata, it's selected from the trip computer... selection includes lock on drive off or lock on putting gear selector into D. And unlock on switching off the engine or unlock on shifting to P. Not sure how Mazda does it by default...

Perhaps you can send a note to Mazda Japan and highlight the video and ST report... they may send instructions to our local dealer to spec for it or make it a non-removable function.

I propose that we create an online petition (via Change.Org), to request for a software patch/update for the "Auto-lock when driving off" feature, and get atleast 500 signatures.

In my opinion, the hijacking could have been prevented if the auto-lock feature was active (as evidenced by the locked car in front of the 6)

Did Trans-Eurocars give you a date on when they would get back to you?

The most upsetting part was that the autolock hardware is already there but DISABLED.

We should post this in the car review section to warn prospective buyers.

The Auto-Lock settings for the Mazda 6 is user selectable.  Usually the factory default setting is:

All the doors lock automatically when the vehicle speed is about 20 km/h (12 mph) or more.

All the doors unlock when the ignition is switched from ON to Off.  Don't know if the agent

changed this.

There are various other settings available.  Check with the Mazda service agent.  Or read the

user manual.

One caution is that if the car doors remain locked when the car is stationary, then in an

emergency, i.e. crashed car, rescuers cannot open the door from the outside when you

are unconscious inside.

Sounds Promising! (http://www.mazda6info.net/auto_lock_unlock_function-74.html)

Have you managed to enable the lock feature? Will probably try this out tonight or tomorrow.

Btw, rescuers usually resort to smashing windows when doors are locked :) .

Bro, if the method is indeed stated in the Mazda manual how can it void the warranty? [sleeping]

There are functions in the car that is not activated and auto door lock is one of them. It can be activated by software no need manual switch. However any alteration to car software TEK can and may void your warranty if anything happens to your car or accident related to this alteration.

No point voiding warranty for that function

Bought my CX5 recently and do come with factory setting with auto lock  function upon driving at 20km/hr. Can also do setting on HU to disable auto lock and can select when to unlock....either unlock when ignition off position or unlock when in parking brake activated or unlock when gear stick in park position. My SE told me it is only available for CX series. In such case, I believe that it can be programmed to have this auto lock feature for all Mazda car models. Maybe TEK didn't give this feature for M2/3/6 due to pricing reason.

Hi guys, I intend to book the Mazda 6 executives.

Sales said in-car cam front/rear only record when engine 'on'.

Therefore, overnight parking no recording to avoid draining battery.

They unable to change the recording mode or wiring as it is company practice for now.

I wish to have overnight park recording.

Anyone can advice how to overcome this? Thanks.

You actually can add external battery pack wired to the car cam to have overnight parking recording with motion detect mode. Having external battery means your camera doesn't tap voltage from car battery when in parking mode. Not sure your package giving you Blaupunkt cam or other? It can do night recording with battery pack added ($300+). If not, you can change to a new cam like Iroad 7/9.

Hi, battery pack noted. Also means extra battery cost down the road.

Mazda giving Blaupunkt BP9.0.

My current ride only front cam. Overnight parking with motion sensor. Battery ok and last at least 2years.

Not sure if rear cam useful or not.

Alternatively, I could get $200 rebate if no car cam.

Then go outside vendor to install.

But reluctant to do wiring outside as new car.

Some OBD which can trigger more than just Autolock

It is more of safety where

1) Autolock if > 20km/hr.

2) Jam brake will trigger door unlock and hazard light auto on.

3) Gear Park, door auto unlock.

I seen in Taobao before, i think less than $50.

Not sure if it fits Mazda.

If it worls, then no need to change software.

But then, My old civic 2008 already has these built in.  Mazda purposely remove it?
