I am aware that the auto lock can be programmed but afraid that the warranty will be voided as the car is less than a year old.

On hindsight, should have just proceed to get it done. Now that the car has been declared a total loss, so pointless now.

did the insurance gave u a one to one exchange ?

The new Maz6 looks nice

There is a provision for new car replacement in the policy but subjected to final decision from the insurer.

They are still processing the case and may take a while.

All the best to you...

It has been a couple of weeks since the traumatic incident and emotions have subsided, I am thinking why not share it in this thread which is most appropriate.

I am sure most here have read this two weekends ago.......

Yes, the car, a Mazda 6, that was hijacked was mine but it was my wife who was alone in the car at that time. Thank god she was not hurt other than the extreme shock. She was in total panic when the man approached the car and couldn't lock the car in time.

Ironically, I was telling my wife when I bought this car that it don't have auto speed lock unlike my previous car. It was not a concern to me at that time as Singapore is generally safe but I was proven wrong this time!

So owners here, for safety sake.......please remember to lock your doors while on the move though it is extremely unlikely such incident will happen again.

Cheers

Firstly welcome to the forum, and really appreciate your candid sharing. Hope insurance will satisfactorily settle your case with a nice new ride.

Able to share more details on how the hijacking took place? You wife was driving it, and stopped at a junction when the criminal opened door? was she forced out, or did she remain in the car witnessing the subsequent mayhem?

If less than a year and insurance from AIG, they will replace a brand new m6 if declare total damage.

I wonder if they really replace a brand new m6, what about existing loan? Continue?

Do share with us the outcomes from insurance

AIG is still processing the claim and what they can only tell me now is that the car is confirmed as total loss. As for existing loan, they told me to do a full settlement first and then submit the document to them for reimbursement. Will share more once the verdict is out.

She was alone in the car, which was second in line along a minor road waiting for traffic to clear on the main road. She saw that idiotic bloke standing by the roadside picking up some stuff on the ground but didn't think much of it.

Suddenly, the guy dashed to open the driver's door of the car in front but was unsuccessful. So he switched target to my car and in panic, my wife didn't lock the door in time. As he was holding a weapon in hand, he demanded my wife to get out as he only wanted the car and not hurt anyone. Fearing for her safety, my wife could only comply.

He then sped off towards BKE and subsequently crashed at Woodlands checkpoint as per the newspaper report. Of cause, he was apprehended.

Singapore is not that safe as we think of.

Hope you can get a replacement new car soon.

Perhaps Its time we Mazda owners band together and write to Trans-Eurocars Management to enable the auto-lock feature.

Its ridiculous that autolock is disabled for the Singaporean version of the 6.

She is doing fine now......has resumed her daily travelling on the same road to fetch the kids home from school.

In fact, I called Mazda on the very same day the incident had happened, but all they said is that they will look into this. This is something we should pursue as auto lock is a common feature on other makes.

I propose that we create an online petition (via Change.Org), to request for a software patch/update for the "Auto-lock when driving off" feature, and get atleast 500 signatures.

In my opinion, the hijacking could have been prevented if the auto-lock feature was active (as evidenced by the locked car in front of the 6)

Did Trans-Eurocars give you a date on when they would get back to you?

Glad to hear that your wife is fine.

Did your car camera capture the entire incident?

I only took first sight of my car four days after the incident and the in-car camera has already been removed by the police for analysis. And no, they did not reveal any footage to me as the case is still under investigation.

Guys, here you go

those wanna enable auto door lock, can pm me.

Bro, I have no intention to disrupt your business. However this petition is to create awareness to the management of Transeurokars on the issue faced by the customer with the Autolock disabled.

The objective is to get the Authorized dealer to provide a solution that does not void the warranty. Hope this clarifies.
