Indeed...im a great fan of mazda cars too.. hopefully their new engine skyactiv x would be faster..esp 0 to 100km... must rival at least the c class at 8.4secs

IIRC my Mazda 6 2.5 is 8.1 secs for 0 to 100 km.

While no supercar standard, it beats 90 percent of the cars on the road and it's superb for overtaking road hogs.

New 2018 2.5L is 8.4s even with slightly more HP. Maybe more soundproofing material.

Talking about safety...if a mazda bangs a merc bmw or audi...which one will survive?

I understand all conti are safe..the doors are heavy..usually when accident..conti passengers survive but not japanese cars..dunno about mazda.

you'd be surprised to know that the avantgarde E -Class has only 6 airbags.all Lexus comes with 8 or more airbags.i believe the Mazda 6 comes with 7 airbags. my current 2012 GS has 10 airbags.some conti cars are made to "feel" tough but in a real life situation it proves otherwise.

and this the latest Mazda 6 test,which is to me,very impressive:-

My 2017 2.5L is spec at 8.2s for 0-100.

 

New 2018 2.5L is 8.4s even with slightly more HP. Maybe more soundproofing material.

 

If you look at the specifications sheet, the 2018 Mz6 is almost 200 kg heavier than the 2017 model.

 

Apparently the focus of the 2018 model was on noise insulation and use of thicker high-strength steel for the wheel wells and certain parts of the cabin area. This achieves both noise reduction and increased cabin integrity.

 

That should explain the slower acceleration. The increase in hp and torque is arguably negligible.

 

Despite that, the Mz6 2.5L can comfortably overtake most other vehicles on the road, including the likes of the 2017 Camry 2.5L. The addition of the paddle shifters just adds to the fun factor.

Seems to be a 2.0L model from the rims.

 

Soul Red Crystal is so mesmerizing. I really got to hand it to the people at Mazda for making the most alluring reds among Japanese cars.

 

The only downside about Soul Red Crystal is that photos don't do it justice. It's much more beautiful when seen in-person than on pictures/ videos.

Think making cars tough was old school ... they design how engine can go under the car and how crumple zones can help alleviate impact during accidents. Guess they found out that harder aka tougher car dun do well against another one or against walls or trees.

Indeed nice and best of red/maroon selection among various cars but wife felt too loud and hence back to usual white ... keke !

 

For me, it is hard to maintain like sliver and white on dents, chipped paint etc. like black colored cars.

Not sure if it's just me but I noticed that the new transcab Prius is a darker shade of red than other transcabs. Very similar to mazda red.

The easiest colour to maintain by experience is silver or matte grey. Even if dusty and dirty it still looks the same.

 

Agree that the red is a loud colour. Because it's eye-catching, can be spotted more easily on the roads, even at night!

 

In the animal kingdom, bright and loud colours are used as a warning to warn other animals to stay away! A pity that doesn't seem to work when it comes to cars, otherwise I'd be given a really wide berth on the roads...
