Have had lower back pain for years.

2 stretching exercises you can do, recommended by the ortho doctor I saw last time.

1) Lie on your back with legs straighten. Pull your left knee back to your chest area with both hands and hold it there for 20 secs. After that straighten it then repeat for the other leg. Do at least 3 times for each leg.

2) Lie face down with whole body straighten. Then lift your head and upper body up with both hands, look straight ahead and hold there for 20 secs. After that, come down and rest for 20 secs then repeat 3 times. It’s like a yoga pose.

Hope you can visualize what I described. I also take painkiller like Arcoxia or Celebrex to relieve the pain and also stick this koyok. Normally will take a week before recover fully. There’s no quick recovery unfortunately. 😓

Get well soon.

Me2 got it for the last 10-15  years or so; maybe during young days (like Tarzan) carry heavy stuff like no tomorrow and did MRI over 10 years back and said L3, L4 got nerve impingment or compression; Every 3-4 months sure will kenna some kind of spasm or very stiff feeling (on waistline area) when wake up for no rhyme or reason ; so I stretch a little over 3 mins in bed in the morning before getting up........ its kind of debilitating as takes 2-3 days to recover now (about 10 years back after 36 hours or so - it would have been fine) Arcoxia helps for sure ;120mg on initial 1st spasm and with suniton (anarex) 2-3 times and then next day take 1/2 arcoxia  only and then same again ; Usually stop after 3rd day

Also had back issues for years. mine is pain at the bum, leg.

At first, it is depressing but it got a lot better from covid WFH. Maybe it is the morning runs everyday, I don't know.

Just relax and stay positive I feel, it is a common problem and quite a lot of people have it

Mine is nerve compression at L4 L5.

Do planking, it does help. Build up the core muscle but only when recovered of course.

The pain becomes more intense when they get to 6yrs old😅😅😅

IMHO.IME.
If that is the case,  you probably will need to to exercise to elongate the spine to relax it.
I would say that some physio exercises are for the purpose to build muscles which will eventually support the body structure.
However,  building the muscles to do that will take time.

Also,  how the feet supports the mid to upper body is important as well.
Symptoms could be lower body joints pain like knee or ankle.
Other symptoms also includes corns and calluses on the foot/feet.
Suitable insoles or shoes would help to resolve those issue which will help to lessen or eliminate back pain.

Disclaimer - IMHO and IME.  The risk is yours.

Yes have been doing that and even push ups and some pilates and yoga using towel method to raise the legs into air (one by one) and using a towel like rope to tension

Trying to improve gait also but it just seems stubborn ....haiz..... hope dont develop into sciatica (i heard thats next in line ) but so far I'm OK

Sometime even sneezes I got to take care to bend my legs a little

Sigh... my turn to have lower back pain.

Started off with lower back, then went xray, came back normal and doc just gave muscle relaxant and painkillers. When it didn't get better, and pain even radiated to my left leg, doc referred me to ortho.

when i saw the ortho, pain at lower back was not so bad, but at certain angle the leg would feel the pain. Arranged for MRI, but still 2-3 wk away.

ortho assessed and tested my toes and leg strength + reflex, and said it's not v bad, likely a torn disc and got chance might recover in 3 mth.

in the meantime, just tell me rest more and dun carry heavy things. Also said that prolonged sitting (which i might have been doing ever since started WFH) isn't good...

The pain at my left buttock and leg suddenly got worse a few days ago, and was very painful for one day. Sit, stood both also pain... then these 2 days slightly better, but certain angles, will feel the sharp pull/pain at the left buttock and leg. Last night choked on my drinks and coughed a few times, and the pain was so intense when coughing...

Any experienced guys here got any advice how to get it to heal/recover, and quickly if possible?

thanks...

Try some stretching exercises or swimming.

Carrying children wasn't a daily basis... It was only during outings with longer walking distance they would wanted to be carried.

Now my kids can't carry anymore.

Those back pain from carrying child felt more like muscle ache.

Agree on stretching exercise.

The effect is better than swimming.

Pre and post pain could be different.
I believe that  that a minor "structural" damage could have occurred.

Check your PM. 😎

Supercharged

Felt compelled to contribute to what I know, seeing so many are in the same shoes.

Had slipped disc (L3/L4) and operated in 2001. Recovered since but about 10 years ago started to have back-pain issues again.

The back would get into spasm when I'm in certain position. Sometimes sneezing would trigger it. Sometimes woke up in the morning, the whole body was slanted to one side. There's soreness in the left bum area and slight numbness in the left leg. Sometimes soreness in the lower back area itself. Very depressing. Arcoxia, Sunitron, Anarex, Diclofenac .. these are usual stuff I'd pack in my bag.

Did MRI in 2018 and ortho said the spine has degenerated and pinching the nerves. Suggested bone fusion then. I didn't want to. I had like 2 episodes per year leading up to 2018.

Things started to get worse in late 2019, becoming a daily struggle. Did MRI in 2020 and visited 3 orthopedics to seek their opinion. All said spine has degenerated in general and the gap between the discs has narrowed at L4/L5. All suggested bone fusion.

I'm keen to go for it (surgery) but my wife not that keen. She's hoping that I'd do other conservative treatments to see if that helps.

So, I've been taking supplements and doing a lot of stretching and trying to strengthen my core muscles. I've also tried bringing my weight down to help put less strain on the back (but that didn't seem to help much). My friend suggested a doctor who's injecting collagen to the sites and doing PRP to help with natural restoration of collagen. I've started doing that since late last year. Not cheap, $900 per session. But in the great scheme of things, it's still cheaper than surgery. It has helped somewhat, but not eliminated the issue altogether. I go back to him once every 3 months.

I have a buddy who had torn disc instead. He managed to fix that with some laser treatment (he couldn't describe the procedure well). He recommended his ortho (one of the 3 that I visited last year) but mine is not the same issue. My buddy recovered well and even went to climb Mt Kinabalu last year.

Core and posterior chain muscle group strengthening  is key.

Yes, like pitching a tent. Imagine the spine is the center pole. The core and back muscles need to be strong like taut ropes supporting the tent upright. If any of the ropes is loose, it will collapse.

I rem my physio used to tell me that ppl generally has stronger back muscles than core. So, core muscles need to be developed mindfully.

back body bone setting/resetting is impt as it pushes and hit the nerves that causes the pain. Heavy upper body that is supported by our legs is like carrying our body wherever we go.

painkiller is tricking our brain to remove the pain which is no good for long term. Find out the cause will help to rebuild our body is a solution to continue our daily lives. This also put our knees in pain so give yourself a good pair of shoes to wear in order to minimize the pounding against the knees while walking. This may help to make lives happier only if you are not in pain.

solar magnetic pad is a warm heat relief for healing pain, hanging on to a chin up bar everyday is also a good relief with a strong sunshine for 30mins, sleeping on a soft mattress may also be the culprit for a back pain together with the pillow that you are sleeping where your neck is hanging in the air during the long sleep! So beware and investigate to change your life style.

Sometimes lower back pain may be due to torn or injured  strands of tendons anchoring the trapezius to the posterior illium...or got forbid fracture minute or hairline at the anchoring region.

Dont go spine all the time, can be elsewhere injured.
