Tried Caltex 98 recently compared to SPC Levo 95, feels that the gear shifting is smoother.

What got petrol do with gear shifting.???

At what ratio u add 2T to petrol?

Did all these cars hv a cat?

When 2T is added to car, its usually at very low ratio. I have tried from 1:1000 ratio, all the way to 1:500 ratio. Compare to 2T bike that uses 1:25 to 1:50, thats a very small amount. Ive been using it for years and doesnt cause any problem to my Vios. Try to look for such topic in BITOGS and you will find many car owner doing the same thing...

The effect is very obvious, the engine will become smoother and quieter... some claim that the FC improved but for me, if improved FC is not really significant.

+1. same observation. smoother n quieter. fc negligible.

My Daihatsu Sirion 1.3 has min RON of 91.

Always been pumping 95RON until recently, pumped 2 tankfuls of 92RON discovered some sluggishness whenaccelerating and mileage dropped by about 1km per litre.

My friend who drives a petrol driven Toyota Hiace school bus also told me he pumped 95RON due to lack of power for 92RON.

is this true, or must engine timing be retard for it to accept 92RON?

Wan power?get a turbo car..

Wad is tat snake oil?

its lubricant for 2 cycle engine, mainly use n motobike. Just like our engine oil but its design to be burn. Use it on 4 cycle engine as upper cylinder lubricant to make your engine smoother n quieter.

Of course in theory adding oil wil lube valves n pistons but too much wil cause unburned oil to destroy yr cat n add carbon build up to piston n valves.

The trick is to add small amounts which wil b completely burned off in e combustion chamber. Add too much n u wil hv problems.

In fact even adding small amts of engine oil wil achieve similar results but 2T is specially made to burn off more completely n less likely to cause problems.

If its so good....why dont manufactures design 4T engines wh an oil injector to add oil to e petrol going into e chambers.

Same as why racing engines also dun hv oil added to e petrol.

If not done carefully...it WIL cause problems.

yup, agree, adding too much 2T will caused problem, even completely burned off, some cheap 2T will leave carbon on the valve, piston & combustion chamber. That's y only use TCW3 rated or Jaso FD rated 2T. These high quality 2T not only lubricate, at the correct ratio, it could even help to clean the piston & combustion chamber. How do I know? Just go to any bike shop and see them service those 2 stroke bike.... those that use cheapo 2T will have a thick layer of carbon left on the piston head... Where those using quality 2T is sparkling clean....

Oh yeah, Jaso FD & TCW3 rated 2T is cat safe btw, of course, at the manufacturer recomended dosage...

I think add 2T to petrol will cause more carbon stuck the piston & ring. As I know my bike 2T engine every time service got 1 layer of carbon stuck on the piston & engine head need scrapper to scrap it, carbon also stuck at piston block exhaust. In long run is no good to the engine.

I bot castrol 2T (FD rated) in Alexandra village for $20 if i remember correctly, thats the pricing 5 yrs ago liao....its gold colour bottle. The 1L bottle can use very long if you mix at 1:500 ratio... as for the TCW3 rated 2T, I bot from Mal.

My owners manual says that the recommended octane rating is 98 but the engine can adjust itself to suit 95 if 98 is not available.

I have also tested using both 98 and 95 just to see the difference.

Not surprisingly, my car performs better , feels smoother and has better mileage with 98.

So no reason for me to use 95ron.
