Any one know if the Petronas station in Gelang Patah rest area, the one AFTER the 1st toll north bound, offer RON97 ? Or is it all RON95 ?

Cos I always see it empty when I pass there. All cars and bikes seem to stop at the Esso station just next to it.

The nearest one to 2nd link? Yes it has RON 97 on MOST of the pumps. That's why there may be a slight queue but other pumps empty, because those are the RON 95 and diesel pumps

I don't know why it's the emptiest, but it sure is my choice. Not just because of lack of queue, but because my cars prefer Petronas above the others. And Esso/Mobil in MY is particularly bad in terms of power and mileage. I'm a keen driver, so the response matters. You can argue that's subjective, but can't argue with the mileage difference.

I used to drive a STi (2.0) and now driving a Getz 1.1. Similar findings for both cars. Vpower in Jb doesn't do anything for both my cars, while SG Vpower actually does. Even for the lousy Getz. But maybe that's because I have had the ECU tuned before

Still, I find that the best petrol in Malaysia, Petronas RON 97, is worse than our SPC or Caltex RON 98. I find shell 98 in SG quite lousy, maybe to push customers towards Vpower. Shell Fuelsave mileage pretty good though [;)]

Just further down is where 3 petrol station is, Caltex on the left, Esso and Shell on the right. The store is ard 100m before reaching the stations on the right, just beside the 7-11. The kway tiao kia soup is addictive. [inlove] [inlove] [inlove]

Are you aware that Petronas is a International Brand in Europe ? Do you think they'll risk their high profile bussiness status by cheating with this kerosene mixture ?

All my cars(x4) pumped Petronas Ron 95 at RM1.90 for more than 10 years, all my 4 cars engines shall be scrap to waste metal by now ! if your source are true ??????????????????????????

wow i had no idea haha. i simply assumed petrol would be more expensive with all the supposed additives and "advanced technology, innovation and engineering" that the oil companies put into their product.

glad to have learnt something new. i guess that dispels it then ..

i wasn't speaking of petronas in particular but rather petrol stations generally. i don't think the oil companies would be so daft as to pull something like that .. but petrol station owners .. hmmm ..

in any case, it seems like what i heard has been dispelled (see above; kerosene is more expensive than petrol). so apologies for any false alarms.

It's very simple, anyone out there or any Laboratory would to be curious and conduct a petrochemistry analysis, Petronas or any other Petroleum Industries will be grilled in high court to their last penny.
