I strongly suggest do Peak Tram at 8+ in the morning. After that the queue can be quite long. A lot of time wasted.

By noon The Peak gets quite crowded too.

HK typhoons nothing to be afraid of. Just some inconvenience if one is on trip because of the rain. If signal 8 and above, a lot of establishments are closed so that's a bummer too.

I've been in two Signal 12s

The first a few weeks after I started work there and not knowing I drove from Sha Tin to our job site as west as you can get on the mainland side out by Urmston Roads.

The water on the road was to the top of my car bonnet in places I was generally the only car on the road and if a big truck drove past me in the opposite direction then the water would rise half way up my windscreen.  How the car kept going I do not know.

When I got to the site no one there and I turned round and drove home.

Second twelve was when we lived in Sai Kung.  Stayed home all day no rain and when the Taiphoon centre passed over us then blue skies.

But I've seen on tv people on HK Island walking down steep roads with rushing water in signal 8 ish and being swept into roadside drain and killed.

So be careful.

wow!

on public holidays the queue snakes out to the bus drop off area outside to the WWF shop side. like our cheese tart, salted egg tart or whatever queues here.  [:p]

its a capacity issue, each tram can only take a fixed number of people and each trip is around 8 or 10 mins.

Haha. Thanks. I change a bit a bit only lah.

Won't cause shortage of HKD in Singapore. I hope ...  :yeah-im-not-drunk:

For me the best views in Hong Kong are from TST.

Walk through the lobby of the Marco Polo ??? Hotel, maybe The Prince stayed in both so can't remember, take the elevator to the third floor car park at the back of the hotel and there the views of HK Island at night can't be beat.

Costs nothing.  No queues.

Luckily i didn't wait too long.  Like 30minutes.  I took my parents there.  So don't want them to be dissappointed.

seems no one mention sai kung. if go wang da xian temple, can just grab a cab to sai kung.

since have more people, can order the set meal (seafood) for x pple. add on a few more dishes. more economical.

Agree very much about Sai Kung.

Last December took public bus from Nathan Road to Sai Kung and took the island hopping package from there. Very surprised that the sea waters at the islands very clear, really feel like dipping except that it was cold in December. If go in June sure will prepare swimming thingy as got public toilets on the islands, Then have seafood dinner in a Michelin star restaurant along the waterfront there. First time eating fried garlic mantis shrimp, very nice. At HKD1000 not really ex for the quality.

Actually easy to go around HK by public bus. Google map navigation for bus stops and services is very accurate.

The last time I brought the family to HK was a few years ago, and I documented what we did on these blog posts.  Sharing here, in case useful.

I recall that Ocean Park wasn't too crowded when we go there.  It was a Monday.  We took Citybus 629 from Admiralty MTR.  Don't know whether this bus still operates.
