Turbocharged

[crazy] How can a 7.6 sec car be underpowered?

in today's standard, its consider under power. a polo gti is already doing 6.9s with a 1.4L engine.

It is more than 'enough' for everyday use, many cars still takes 10-12 secs to 100km/h.

everyday use is definitely enough but we are talking about a 2L turbo here. not the normal 1.3 or a 1.6L NA.

I dunno but I never considered my Octy RS under powered. Even by today's standard.

how tight is tight at the rear? if a lady sits there, will she have to open her legs else her knee caps poke the passenger/driver's back in front thru the front seat back cushion?

Yes. And if the lady wore tight short skirt, lagi worse. Even want to spread her legs also difficult.

Worse if the lady get leg cramp while sitting in such tight seats. The driver must then massage her leg for her when she wants to alight.... [grin]

maybe I wasn't clear earlier.

what I mean is for today's engine development standard, 2L turbo producing 200 or less bhp is underpower, not personal preference. one can consider 80 bhp enough whereas another may consider 400 bhp underpower. so its very difficult to use personal preference as the baseline.

for today's engine technology, a 2L turbo producing 250 bhp is nothing to shout about. Megane RS, Golf R, etc are already doing above 250bhp. A45 AMG, above 300 bhp. even those 1.6 turbo are dishing out 200 bhp.

in this case, die die must put her next to the driver, even have to make her sit on the gear stick, or just the laps of the driver!!!

Heh. No issues. True that we are squeezing more and more power out of smaller engines, which is a good thing i guess. But imo, 100hp per ton is sufficient in most cases.

Well she wil just hv to pull her skirt up around her waist so she can spread her legs apart.

U mean u never did this to a lady b4? [sly]

If you compare a big engine to a smaller engine with the same amount of power, big engine still wins because of torque..

But still, if turbos are installed on all cars today, then we could all change to TD05 or GT30 lol.

If a lady sits behind u n has to open her legs, Im sure the least of her worries is her knees poking the drivers/passengers back.

She wil b more worried about u reaching behind n poking between her legs with yr wandering hands. [lipsrsealed]

All I can say is didnt yr driving instructor ever tell u to KEEP BOTH HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL.

The problem with all these small engined turbo cars with big power is after a few years n the turbo spoils.

Then ty wil hv a massive repair bill on their hands. [sweatdrop]

For some pple ( I wun mention names here), even their lady front seat passenger dun hv leg cramps, wil hv their thighs well n truly massaged by the notti driver by the end of the journey.

Even smaller engines with turbo usually hv their max torque at the very low end of the RPM.

The main reason so many small engined cars now hv a turbo is to reduce their average fuel consumption n hv lower emissions to allow them to b sold in countries with very strict emission controls.

100HP per ton is already very good for the average family car. [thumbsup]

Yes I know but I meant the amount of torque. Something like an untuned B18C vs a B16A2 tuned to the same performance.

That's why a lot of honda bros lup B18 on their old civics [laugh]

Don't just look at power lah. So what if the car can reach 100km/h in 7 sec? I take more than 15 sec to reach that in everyday drive... It's the handling and drive that is more important.

There really is no comparison here. In all road tests across car magazines, bmw came top in terms if handling, ride, acceleration, perceived quality and lap times compared with IS. Plus, 320 is cheaper than IS250. With all these factors, no idea why people buying the Lexus. While IS250 has more power, it doesn't translate into speed. Japanese horses are worth less?
