Even if the pre-existing condition is unknown to you at the moment you sign up the insurance, but along the way, thru medical checkup, they found you have pre-existing condition that they deemed should be inflicted before the signing of contract, it's consider not covered. They may even get doc's opinion to say that such condition do not happen over night or hapeen during birth, so that is consider pre-existing. Regardless you are aware of it during the signing.

do you know you have color blindness in the first place? or you have doubt that you have one?

I ever went for a pre insure medical check up and was refer to a panel of doctor by the insurance company. they say I have something (forget what was that) and need to increase the premium by double, I told them thanks and took the business to another insuramce company when the check up show everything was ok.

It's fair isn't it? Insurance is the pooling of risk - if you are already sick or have a condition, why should the other healthy people in your pool help you to pay for your treatment?

I know I have color blindness since childhood.

Manage to read 3/4 of the colour blind test book and thus, not many people know I am color blind.

Passed driving license and drove for 20 yrs without any accident.

Turbocharged

All along that has been the case what. Insurance is to cover situation which you don't expect, and pre-existing medical condition is something which you expect and thus cannot be covered.

And this is what Obamacare is trying to push. Making it illegal for insurance companies to refuse to cover for pre-existing medical condition.

From the contents of the letter, it suggests that the policy is a group policy as per the statement: "contract with your organization".

You might want to consider to purchase another policy on your own with another insurer who may insure you for colour blindness at a higher premium. Do your homework. Singapore has a number of health/life insurers for you to choose.

Cheap does not come good; likewise good does not come cheap!

Twincharged

This is normal. Especially for group insurance. You can try and get your own insurance and see if they will offer to cover you with loading lo.
