On our wishful part, let's keep our finger crossed! And hope by then the novelty of driving a whole new car would have lessen our pain of ditching our 'first wife' ;p

Anyone keen to tag along for this side step from taobao?

rmb930 exclude shipping cost

I am ordering from this seller who has a good track and sales record. He is selling at RMB839. According to my research, the chargeable volumetric weight to deliver to our shore is 40kg. Thru 65daigou, with my my existing accumulated purchases, the delivery cost for the side step is estimated at $80. Plus agent fee, the total damage is around $300. Not too sure is this cheaper than market price.

Hope the above information can be useful to anyone interested to get from TB.

For those considering the above side step from TB, please note there are 2 types - one is broader which protrudes out of the car body and the other is narrower which conform well the carbody. The latter one costs slightly more (probably $50 to $60 more). Each has its pros and cons. I am choosing the narrow one cos it's easier to alight if my passenger chooses not to use the side step. And also the protruded side step is prone to scratches though it can also be an added protective shield against other car banging ur car door.

Happy shopping!!

There actually isn't a choice, if you go for the protruding one, it is considered as an illegal modification by LTA. Called in to check already.

I contacted the seller. He told me the dimensions of the item is 200cm x 41cm x 23cm, equivalent to 0.18m3. 65daigou is expensive because their charge is based on volumetric weight which makes it become 31kg. Each kg $3, approx $90. If you use diy or group sea shipping, 1 cubic metre regardless of weight is RMB450 delivered to your doorstep. This is famous among the PRC in Singapore nowadays. But minimum charge is 1 cubic metre so you need to form at least that to make it worth it.

So.. Why not you order five sets. I'm sure there will be takers.

I buy five sets, sell you 4 sets at S$230 per set delivered to your door step. Then you resell at a higher value, sounds good? Lol

Frankly. I could take one set if not for fact the adventure edition already has some extra trims by the side..

But a few of them are interested.. All u need is to organize a group buy. Hehe

Found out something interesting while my mum driving out yesterday,

Seems that once you engage reverse gear and the parking camera come on you cannot control the radio functions (i.e volume, channels etc) using the knobs or the steering controls. (Basically the volume was too loud and I tried to lower it from the passenger side), seems like a odd design hiccup.

I spoke to TC yesterday as well, he claims the Xtrail cannot be program with the auto-lock function while driving, he was supposedly the "expert" but I recall some of you here have done it before. Can anyone confirm?

Also does anyone know where to buy the short Ant for the Xtrail, the stock one is hitting everything within reach. Does Autobacs sell this?
