the horror stories about PRC women way outnumbered the happy ending....

i am trying to be optimistic here ... but i do have my share of bad ending stories ... but with singaporean couples.

close to home ....

my cousin married a guy ... during engagement period, he kept persuading her to buy flat and then also ask her parents to sell their flat through him ...but luckily my uncle not stupid. After getting going through the chinese wedding, the guy left my cousin the next day.

another cousin who does freelance work, married a rather well-to-do girl ... had a baby boy ...then about 2 years later, she says he never has time for the family and they divorced. Baby went to the wife coz my cousin no stable job. But my cousin has been like that since their pak-tohing days ....

a distant relative ... on the day of the chinese wedding ... my relative went to pick up the bride ... the bride refuses to open the door !!! this relative see no open ... after a while, went to become a monk. His mother was hopping like mad !!

another cousin, married a girl, had a baby ... after about 6 months, the girl ran back to her niang-jia .... leaving the baby with my cousin.

my sister's friend married a guy ... she bought house and car for him ... but he could not handle his itch and in the end divorced ...

to summarize, their is no stereo-typing for this kind of thing lah ... just abit of luck actually. you find one that truly want to settle down and have family, good for you. If you unlucky find one with motives. then too bad - be it local or foreigner.

and just because a local marries a foreigner who is less well-to-do does not mean you can treat her like a servant ... its gonna come back to bite you sooner or later.

I always believe the kids (if they have) are watching. Remember the story about the couples giving the wooden bowl to their parents and the son on seeing that, started carving a wooden bowl?

ICA won't tell you the considerations to grant PR, simply becos every case is different.

ICA won't tell you the reason, when an application is rejected, simply becos every case is different. So don't bother to ask if rejected, just re-apply.

yup... be it stats. board or institute..application not successful, no reason will be given..

Is this what we call transparency....damn it

Fast way that I know of is either thru academics (means send her to gov institution like ITE or Poly, study, get cert and get local job) or sign on SCDF, army etc etc.

I'm not kidding these 2 are the "fast" and sure way to get PR.

If your spouse is non English speaking, better go for language school first. If her academics is no good. It's ok can go for any ITE courses that your spouse is good at, get a cert, get a job.

What gahment want is your spouse to contribute to the country before they grant them PR. If stay at home, no job, very difficult to get things moving.

The other fast way I know is to pay tons of $$$, dunno how many millions, to so call "invest". How do you think foreign investors get PR so....instantly? This I must ask my friend how his foreign parents did it. But my friend did NS and got his citizenship.

If you = male SGP, and spouse = female

As "sponsor", you must have a good income + stable job.

What is the definition of "good income + stable job" ??

I did apply for my wife PR a year plus back. Basically there are a lot of red tape to cross and you have to be really careful. From what I read in the expat foreign, some other foreigner forum where they are applying for PR, it seems top of the list of criteria is the nationality of your spouse. Followed by how long have he/she been in Singapore.

I was pretty lucky to have my wife application for PR approved at the first attempt. But this is coupled with numerous trips to the embassy, ICA and other stuff.

My wife is keen to become Singaporean so we will be following the rules and apply for her citizenship upon 2 years of PR status.

Can u share with me the link to the foreigner forum?

As long as you pay your taxes on time for the past few years is consider good income and stable job lor.

I applied for my wife a few years back. Easy. Got it within a month. No issue at all.

Yah, tats a few year back... times have changed... getting PR is no longer tat easy... thus I'm trying to find out the recent trend in past 1-2 years if this "good income + stable job" is still effective or not... or maybe there are new factors

Not only the stable job + income. Your education level plays an important part too. For me and wife, we are degree holder so it was easier. If you are citizen, it shouldn't be too hard lah. Just try it and find out lor.

Haha...maybe lor.

But my M'sia Poly classmates received letters/forms to apply for PR when they are about to graduate. It took them around 3months to get PR. Probably NTU/NUS is faster.

that's cos people are more quick to complain than praise. Same with tech reviews or restaurant reviews. Horror stories are just that... stories...

As others have said, in my family, I've seen more divorce with SC partners than with foreign brides/grooms. Doesn't mean SC makes bad partners :)

the only way to get a happy ending with a china girl is in a massage parlour and $50 bucks.

ICA dun do pass. It's MOM. Renewal is not a problem at all.

It's about commitment. Whether TS want to go ahead or sit there and procrastinate.
