Gizmore Supercharged September 6, 2015 Share September 6, 2015 (edited) Every weekday morning, all these heavy truck will be speeding along Tampines Road after leaving the heavy vehicle park at Defu Lane. My small hatch back some times has problem catching up with these heavy truck speedster. And it is not uncommon to find all three lane blocked off by these trucks. Extreme left lane taken up by those law abiding ones. Middle lane and extreme right lane by the speedsters trying to out do a drag race before turning up to KPE. There should be mandatory speed-limiter inspection every 6 months by LTA. Plus, there should be a seal in which, if tempered with, fine both driver and company. I cannot comprehend why the relevant authorities are turning a blind eye to this rampant disregard for the law. Must they wait till there is fatal accident before deeming it fit to take action? alphard96 6th Gear November 9, 2016 Share November 9, 2016 Exactly! I cannot comprehend why the relevant authorities are turning a blind eye to this rampant disregard for the law. Must they wait till there is fatal accident before deeming it fit to take action? Possibly not enough TP manpower. Realised nowadays Certis Cisco traffic/parking wardens seems everywhere - catching illegal parking and bus lane offences... sometimes difficult even to stop for 1-2 minutes near MRT before they suddenly appear. Perhaps they could be empowered by TP to do the same to film these speeding lorries (as only TP can give chase to speeding offences). These cisco wardens at the road side with such camera may deter these lorries from speeding and hence reduce accidents/save lives.
Kyrios Turbocharged November 11, 2016 Share November 11, 2016 Nowadays if you travel late at night...say after 12am..be prepared to be 'jioed' on the roads by goods vehicles...during daytime they kena overtake by regular sedan cars...so they buay song..... So late at night when the cats are away..the mice come out to play liaoo...watch out ...I myself experienced goods vehicles speeding at presumably 120km/h upwards on the expressways at night when travelling...they wanna show they can be faster than sedans...
Tcx607 4th Gear November 19, 2016 Share November 19, 2016 Just feedback on LTA or TP website. The OC will investigate and start to haul up these speed demon. We need to feedback to LTA/TP so that they are aware on such places/road and time. My OC will mobilise a team to track them down.

Why don't you ask your OC to have more patrol car / bike on the road to deter such speeding incident ? And charge those who drive dangerously more " meaningfully " .
1fast1 Supersonic November 20, 2016 Share November 20, 2016 (edited) hmmm... i suspect hor...those lorries on lane 1 are driven by ft where their native countries are left hand drive... Don't think it's a factor. Indians drive on the left side, same as us and I've seen first hand how big freaking trucks love to hog the right (fast) lane on highways there also. They're just importing their piss-poor driving etiquette into our country and our gahmen is allowing it to happen, presumably for the sake of expediency. Can't comment on the situation in China as I've never been there (nor would I want to outside a specific track driving experience) but the China FT drivers are just as dangerous, if not more so. And they're even ruder, more aggressive and possibly even violent if challenged. I have no idea whether driving on the other side matters here. I can concur that China driver is even more aggressive than Indian driver. The worst is China driver can't keep to their lane in mountainous road.
ins1dious Turbocharged November 20, 2016 Share November 20, 2016 The nationality or the training of the HGV drivers doesn't matter. There's about 180 different nationals working as expats in the UAE... and while there are traffic issues, and speeding, and fatalities involving vans and HGVs (most driven by Indians, Pakistanis and Afghanis)... the vast majority stick to the 3rd lane on the pains of large fines and demerit points... There's none of this attitude of impunity with how HGV drivers behave here... where even on empty roads, the huge tippers are on the 1st lane... either holding up traffic at the signals or speeding like demons. So whats different? Only thing is enforcement. As lazy as those camel humpers are... they know that traffic enforcement and the heavy fines that that brings is a source of revenue... so the patrol cars are on the roads all the time... with the crazy hi-tech cameras doing their jobs 24/7. So whichever department is in charge of training, licensing and enforcement... they need to have a fire light under their bums... 'cos it looks like they've sitting on it for too long.

The fella who took the video was some Indian teen who got fcked himself for posting it online... charge? Insulting the reputation of that old fart. Poor kid was thrown in jail. Big discussion about dash-cams came into question. Their cops clarified that you can have dash cam... but don't anyhow post it online to insult / shame people (maybe that's not such a bad idea?) The old fart apologised after the media frenzy. Edited November 20, 2016 by ins1dious
