Membership? How does it work? Got fee?

Hmm actually I saw eye doctor few months ago. So yeah I don't need the optometrist measurements.

There's a fee, promo $3 now,  but I got my free one year membership from a online purchase when I bought the one for one promo..  Already expired, but once a while they still spam me with promo email.

1 for 1 means u can get two pairs of the frame?

My wife just made glasses late last year. But her sunglasses are also non prescription from 2010 when we went to nz and really need sunglasses (she wore contacts then). And now she drives also. So maybe jioh her to get one just for the clip ons for driving glasses lol.

I don't want to spend too much as ultimately it's just for driving use mostly. I seldom run in outdoor.

I bought from TB a few plastic frames with integrated magnetic polarised clip-on to use when driving only. Ugly also never mind since it's is always inside the car. Frame only 10 plus each.

Polarised lens quite useless for driving

Can try taobao, I bought 2 pair of progressive and transition lens each for $100 and $8 shipping cost via air, got it within 10days after placing order. Only drawback is cannot try the frame and need to get prescription locally that cost between $20-$50 or go SP or NP poly to get $5 prescription from xmm but verify by the poly lecturer.

Turbocharged

I always have my glasses done in Taiwan. Current pair with progressive + photocromic Zeiss lenses less than SGD400. Happy with it. 😀

I just buy an oversized one from petrol stations for 30,40 dollars. Leave in car both you and your wife can share.

I used lenskart for the current pairs, member got 1 for 1 only for frame. Me and wife did the progressive lens which came out around $1k for 2 pairs.

The frame not branded but super light and couple with the thin lens (the thinnest i have made for all my spec) I can't feel anything on my face.

The price a bit steep if not for the lens, my last pairs was Oakley cost about $500+ but given the light weight I think still ok.

Service was not as good as ownday.

Lenskart really ok? Thought of doing progressive lens with them but read a lot of bad reviews online. Added some specs to my kart but never check out, 1-2 days later somemone called and follow-up with me (seems like some overseas operator with indian accent) sharing with me more details and promos, somehow feel like hardcore selling. After that whatsapp, SMS me on her promo code blah blah. In the end I never proceed with them.

Thanks.

Think I will try from taobao which is the cheapest with prescription lenses.

I don't want to use the traditional clip ons for aesthetic reasons. I have the measurements anyway.

If my regular day to day glasses I will get from a trusted optometrist.

Lens quality also matter as the uv coatings etc will degrade over time. So far I'm using Hoya and Asahi. Durable. Zeiss not so much. Had lot of coating issues after 2-3 years.

Owndays I think also OK lah. My parents glasses are from there I think.

Alternative would be JB? I think my friend went in to do glasses also.

Alamak, if you have posted earlier, I would have paid up for the Hoya lens recommended by my optometrist.  My last Varilux X started to wear off after 3 years.

Thinking of buying a cheap pair of prescription sunglasses in JB using a old frame, anyone has good shop to recommend, prefer mid valley location.

In car, solar tint cut most of the harmful ray.

A cheap and dark Rayban is more than enough.

i have had a hoya lens for 5 years already. So far it's the only one which doesn't have coating issue after a few years. But i only wear it at work or going out. And i only wash with warm water from the mixer tap + use microfibre lens cloth only.

I have an older pair i wear for exercise or just casual use. That one i replaced the zeiss lenses 2 years ago with an asahi one (i was going to insist on hoya but the optometrist said asahi is quite durable as well).

maybe 10+ years ago, i went to those queensway optical shop and did some lenses there. haha very cheap but the quality is terrible. the UV coat didn't last a year. And my wife made a pair at the same time, so it's not a one-off.

i use asahi progressive lens. i find that it scratches easily and it's not a one-off incident as this is my 2nd pair and my wife's also.

Not those deep scratches but fine ones and swirl marks that you see on a badly maintained car.
