Not those deep scratches but fine ones and swirl marks that you see on a badly maintained car.

Hmm so far mine are totally fine. Will monitor over time. 

Fine scratches are usually due to cleaning with inappropriate material like tissue paper or wiping with cotton. My wife never used to listen to me. End up her glasses are just totally scratched up lol. This pair she finally is taking care of them properly.

 If you really want cheap in Sg I recommend foptics in Chinatown, pagoda street. Frame + no frills lens (for high astig, no blue screen, no transition) is $35. Comes with free eyecheck. Not for oldies as building has no lift, at level 3.

Thanks for sharing, i will check it out. 

I have my own frame but doubt mine will cost so little. I have high astig and definitely need high index lens.  I wear progressive day to day but may not need that for my sunglasses.

That’s what I want.

$400 for high index clear lens.

I use it on a clip on of sunglasses

$400? Not progressive, I presume.

My day to day progressive 1.67 high index (Varilux X) lens cost me $1,368 (without frame). Didn't want to spend so much for my sunglasses as I will be using it mainly for driving and for the weekends, hence thinking of buying a prescription sunglasses (normal lens) and dropping progressive (near vision).  

I used to have a reading glass but stopped using it after a while, not sure if this will be money down the drain.  Maybe just buy a clip on and keep the cash?  😂

Progressives so expensive? Anything special. Wah my son's photochromatic progressives (cos he's on atropine) is 250-275 with frame. 

I was expecting to spend like 400-500. But guess that's heartlands pricing.

I am using polarized progressive smart lenses from Zeiss sunglases, lenses cost me about 1.2k but I am damn happy with it. 

 

If need clip on consider Rudy Project.....I am using it before I need to use progressive lenses.

I have been using Varilux X track 1.67 for years. The lens offers a wider vision with less distortion.  I feel it is money well spent as my eyes are less strained when reading/ driving. I didn't made it at some atas shopping center, the price is supposed to be reasonable.

Might as well share my prescription and lens (Varilux X Track 1.67 Blue UV Capture) here for reference. Market check to see if I have been carroted. I have been patronizing this shop for more than 2 decades but prices are on the rise.

My progressive less than $200. From the eyecon in qoo10. Some non branded lens and frame.

OK basically from some casual reading, seems like varilux x is a variable corridor progressive lens as opposed to a fixed corridor. 

Not sure if other brands have their own variable corridor progressives. 

The blue light lens/coating adds another level of cost I guess.

Have been using nikon glass in the past, siwtched to essolor plastic lens long ago and been with this brand, i would say very happy with it. Very low distortion  and amazingly, the platic never  get scratched despite the lack of care from me. Just get a very good a high index lense, frame wise use a quality frame will do, no need brand. that should set you back by $1,000k there about.

They do. Hoya's highest range will cost $1600 or thereabout based on my prescription.  Nikon and Zeiss too have their premium range of lens.  

Can't vouch for the rest but I can tell the difference immediately between Varilux X and the standard Essilor lens when I first migrated over.
