AFAIK from visiting the showroom, the current HU on Toyota does not support Apple Carplay and thus you will not be able use the map feature on iphone. However if you just want to mirror iphone screen to HU, it can be done by using a Lightning to HDMI cable. May existing owner confirm the understanding.

Have any bros here noticed that the clock on the HU not in sync with the clock above the HU? If yes, do you leave it alone or manage to find a solution.

My HU is without the GPS set. Thanks.

hello everyone. since the car is running on CVT. Do i have to pump RON 95 & above? because that was what the SE told me. Also is caltax indeed the best fuel? because i have the UOB ONE card which will give me the highest petrol discount. Please help me fellow forum users! thank you!

Anyone experience any creaking sound after driving. When i come out of the car i hear this greak greak sound from the back.

Actually i had it with my vios, not so much the altis. And for my own vios, i realise the problem comes when you do not apply your hand brake enough. When that happens, as you exit the car, the load bearing on the car is reduced. Thus the handbrake experiences some disturbances and thus the sound. Try engaging the handbrake fully next time and the problem should go away. I hope it helps.

Hi Guys,

I've just gotten my car and have a query.

Is anyone able to advise regarding Altis auto door UNLOCK?

It is quite annoying when I've parked the car and my passenger can't just open their door. They have to manually unlock it which can be a little bit inconvenient.

I've read page 126 in the manual but even after trying the steps, I can't figure out how to enable the "All doors unlock when gear shift to P" feature.

Would greatly appreciate it if someone could advise me on this.

Thank you!

you start your engine. then immediately hold the unlock door button until you hear your doors unlock. if not hold for 8 second. simple as that. that was what i did with my car.

if still cannot, you try to press the start-stop button without stepping on your brakes twice until your electronics light up, immediately you hold the unlock door button for 5 seconds/until you hear the doors unlock. this is the official instructions from the book.

if still still cannot. tell the technician when you go for servicing with toyota. tell them what you want they will help you to do. if they dont want help buy hot coffee splash them.

Just to share what I found on connecting my Samsung phone (Note 4) to the HU:

1.  HDMI :  Fastest way to connect but need to get a MHL to connect HU HDMI to MHL and MHL micro USB to phone.  The good thing is you can connect a USB cable from the HU to the MHL to charge the phone at the same time.  So once plug in the micro USB of the MHL to your phone, set HU to HDMI and its connected and mirrored.  I think it will also remember this connection next time you start the car.  The downside is there is nothing you can control from the HU and a bit more cables (HDMI, Micro USB, USB) present.

2.   Miracast :  A bit more setup every time as you need to set mode to Miracast on both the HU and your phone.  But very surprisingly, you can control your mobile phone through the HU screen - ie. whatever you see and touch on the HU works as if you are touching the phone !  So far, it has been quite stable.

3.  Mirrorlink :  You need to download a Mirrorlink Certified App (eg. Rockscout) on your phone first. Then, you can connect your phone to the HU through a USB cable and select Mirrorlink on the HU, the HU will then connect to your phone and list out the Mirrorlink App (that you installed on your phone) on the HU.  Select that App in the HU and your phone screen will be shown on the HU (but the actual phone screen may blank out or shown "Connecting via Mirrorlink").  You can then touch and control the phone from the HU screen.  If you need to press Home or Back button for the phone, you will need to press the HU Home button first.  Then, it will pop up the phone Home & Back button for you to choose (quite cumbersome).  I think through the USB connection, it should also charge your phone at the same time.  But this method takes a while to load and run the applications on your phone and it seems not that stable.

For me, I will stick to HDMI most of the time and occasionally use MIracast.

Hi

Thanks a lot for the sharing. Just wondering why you still use HDMI cable most of the time ... consider that Miracast has been quite stable ? isnt wireless more neat ? It is a pity that iphone not supported

Good question.  I am a lazy guy so just want to get into the car, plug in the micro USB cable from the MHL to my phone and then both sound and images will come out of the HU.  And as I have connected USB from HU to the MHL, it will also charge the phone at the same time.

You can connect via Mirrorcast if you have a android phone.  First, select "Screen Mirroring" on your andriod phone and then select "Miracast" from your HU.  Then, on your phone, it will scan and display your car HU for you to select and tap it.  Then, on the HU, it will prompt you if you want to connect to your phone and tap ok and you are connected.    Everything you see on your phone will appear on the HU screen and you can touch and control from both phone and HU screen.

As you can see, it takes a few steps to setup compared to just plug in for HDMI.  Also, you will need to connect USB to your phone if you want to charge it at the same time.
