Caravan 5th Gear May 31, 2015 Share May 31, 2015 Eg, for Jap brands, For Cat A......Compact SUV/Hatch.....try Suzuki. Compact Hatch and Sedan....try Honda. For Cat B SUV, try Mitsubishi. In my case, i am coincidentally a fan of 1 of the hungry AD(s). Seriously Mitsubishi? When I was in the showroom 2 months ago, no one bothered to talk to me. I had to ask for the price list and then still no one chup me. Only after I asked for test drive did one saleswoman entertained me. All the while there were like 3 to 4 SEs hanging around looking at their handphones. Next door KIA was much much better. A lot more eager. Same with Hyundai. ↡ Advertisement

Back in the days when they had the Starlet, every Starlet sold cost them thousands of dollars .... in losses. Still they have to sell. I'd imagine things likely remain largely unchanged today.

US sales alone will take a generation to fulfil here.

I used to work in Borneo in the 90s in sales and marketing. True the SG market is miniscule. But its about the right to boast of being a market leader - especially in a challenging market like SG where there is significant government intervention - and many players. Those days, its a fight between Toyota and Nissan. When I was there during those years, there is a full-time Toyota Tsusho employee based in Borneo's office. The TMC guy responsible for SG market performance will want to report good results too.

If your car is everywhere, it also reminds people of your presence... convinces people that you're good. And then when you're everywhere... it also makes people feel it's a "safe choice" to buy your product, bringing in more sales...

Camrysfa Turbocharged June 1, 2015 Share June 1, 2015 Hence, I feel that for less tricks & less tricky terms & conditions, more sincerity, more willingness to negotiate, go for the hungrier AD(s). Eg, for Jap brands, For Cat A......Compact SUV/Hatch.....try Suzuki. Compact Hatch and Sedan....try Honda. For Cat B SUV, try Mitsubishi. In my case, i am coincidentally a fan of 1 of the hungry AD(s). Why don't you try mazda. The SE was hungry during the time I was looking for a car in 2013.

Andyngps 5th Gear June 1, 2015 Share June 1, 2015 Seriously, if any of us work there,we will also not like to entertain time wasting customers. Might as well spend more time with genuine buyers True to some sense but if your service is good, pple may spread through word of mouth...he or she may not buy but his frens etc may. In any case Brunei is stuck up one. Got a fren working there said no need to sweat..the oil sell by itself...in any case i only supported them once for my first bucket of oil. After that i migrated out of Brunei. Just cannot stand their attitude.

Over the years, it already has the whole majority of the population at its mercy. I have been very glad the market is able to teach them a hard lesson few years back for the yucky attitude. He is a car sales man and strongly advocating treating every customer walking into the showroom with attention and respect. Though it's a car sales professionals bible but unsurprisingly, every car sales person don't know this book.. no wonder I was never impressed at all by anyone do far Edited June 1, 2015 by Chucky2007

They waste time on a non buying customer hoping his/her friends/relatives to buy.. chances v low. They have opportunity cost. They could be serving another customer who is genuine buyer. I believe that everyone who walks into the showroom has somewhat of an intention to buy or is planning for the future. Only a very small minority would wanna take time off just to visit a car showroom jalan jalan. So a car salesperson is supposed to treat every customer that walks in equally with respect and to assist wherever possible, giving the best advice in the interest of the customer. Sadly yet to come across such a car salesperson but i've seen such salespeople in other industries though.

Chances are they may be trying to filter you already ↡ Advertisement
