Early rumors mentioned 700 MT of Sodium Cyanide. That's a deadly quantity with all the burning and water poured.

 

One of the pics showed residential blocks hardly 600m away from the blast zone. Really poor having so many hazmat lying around so close.

Cannot imagine what the residents of the 2 blocks facing the industrial area felt. The buildings turned pitch black when the power got knocked out.

 

RIP to the heros who went to put out the fire.

Fireball size not linearly linked to blast power sometimes. e.g. explode gasoline tank the fireball very big compare to say a hand grenade with almost no fireball but (ignoring shrapnel), blast effect of the gasoline burst not say 100s of times more than hand grenade.
