Elantra GLS 'S' - $89,999

COE Rebate $36K

Have I been given the correct data sheet, got it at the weekend.

It shows the :

Elantra A S$ 93,599

The Elantra A "S" S$ 97,299

The Elantra A Elite S$ 104,999

Over the weekend there was a promo discount of S$3,300 to minus off those prices, iirc.

12 month Road Tax included.

Insurance not included.

Car loan at 2.28%

hope the bros who placed their orders for tml coe bidding will get it...

Looking forward to seeing who was successful at the 83k mark.. or is it just a way to entice the unsuspecting to book and commit, and end up topping up..

I believe those who booked at 83k high chance would not get it on 1st bid, cause i guess the coe should increase in tomorrow bidding since many people have booked a car over the last 2 weeks.

Just for record. $83599 is for Model NEW ELANTRA 1.6 4dr A (the cheapest of the 3 models) It is not "S" or "Elite". It does not have GPS, DUAL ZONE AIRCONDITIONING,REAR VIEW CAMERA ETC however it looks the same as "S" or "Elite" and can bring you from A to B safely but cheaper by 4K. You should get a booklet from them. Cheers.

A few questions:

- leather, or fabric seat upholstery?

- leather-clad steering wheel, or without?

- guaranteed 6-bid COE?

Thanks!

leather upholstery, locally made. did not notice steering wheel and non-guaranteed 6 bid COE.

For all three models, I suspect leather seats are factory fitted, as the air bag is built inside the seat. So, cannot anyhow put seat cover on front seats. Must use approved types.

On basic and "S" at least, I'm quite sure steering and gear knob are not leather wrapped.

So the side air bag is inside the seat? Not on the door panel?

Many booked the Elantra GLS over the weekend at as low as $81K.

The Kia K3 EX is selling at $93,999.

That makes the Elantra  a good $13,000 cheaper.

Unlikely to secure COE unless COE drops to $40K.

So unless you are in no hurry to get your car, or your existing car has many more months left to drive, else you might end up without a car  if COE does not drop to $40K.

Smart move by Komoco, to lock down potential buyers  from Oct to Dec for 6 bids. This prevents competitors, in their usual bid to close more sales to hit their annnual targets, from achieving their targets.

but then you end up pissing off people. there ultimately is a limit to how many you can piss off.

As I know of the 6 air bags:

1) two front airbags (can see labels on steering wheel and front passenger dashboard)

2) two curtain airbags (can see labels on B pillars)

3) two torso airbags inside the front seats (can see labels stitched on the seat itself)

Yes, can see in the showroom cars

The pissed off folks if any will be those who actually believe their sales rep's pitch that COE prices will drop to 40k..

I think most Singaporeans will do their due diligence, and bid accordingly.. well at least I hope so..

I suppose not everyone who enters their showroom has done their homework, some may be in the try try mood..

maybe it's a matter of time?

i believe coe is "stir-fried" by both ad n pi, n who knows maybe 2nd hand dealer rep (else used cars cannot dispose off if coe too low), but all these r my beliefs.

The will always be marginal people who think (hope) that they can get to buy cars cheaper than market price.

But sorry, contango and backwardation will never be played out in SG's car market.

The dealers will ALWAYS keep their margins - never forget that!

So they go to ADs offering unrealistically low COE rebates (thus the unrealistically low selling price), or they go to PI just to shave off a few more K$.

Either way, they would usually get burnt!

I think this is a real possibility. My Sales just told me they bid for each buyer differently. You get $6K discount, they bid $6K lower for you. They maintain their margin per transaction.

Bid $6k lower mean if your coe rebate is $40k, they will bid maximum $46K for you?
