GrabHitch/RYDE-car pooling services

Grab should disallow stacking. Solve almost all the problem,.

> PHV will lose interest in pooling yet earn more through increased surge

> Single rider enjoy short travel time and become more driver friendly

> Carpool not becoming commercialized

Grabhitch is car pooling.

PHV drivers are commercially driven entities who should not be allowed to hitch.

I used to put up a regular hitch route to and fro work. If anyone happens to go along the same route, I'll be more than happy to accept the hitch request. I do not go about looking for hitch requests that were out of the way. My time and petrol is worth.more than travelling out to those more than 5 min outside of my planned route.

Stacking is debatable. If everyone is going the same exact route, no harm stacking 1 more. But it shouldn't become a case of school bus going round to pick up school children  making the journey longer than necessary for everyone inside.

With the PHV taking hitches, increasingly hitchers no longer bother to differentiate between private car owner vs PHV drivers. That's why more are sitting in the back.

To me this hitch culture is morphing into something that I do not agree with. Thus I no longer offer hitches.

But we cannot deny the fact that PHV drivers also use their cars for personal trips. Even a van driver can use his van for personal trips.

i tried Grabshare once and i was picked up with 2 passenger already on board. Lucky their drop off was only 10min away and it was on the way to my destination, no time waste and not inconvenience.

I think some rider would cancel if they noticed 2 passengers already onboard.

Yesterday, i picked up 2, then got another one. So I had to divert to pick him up. Then he cancel.

I think the 2nd rider saw that he's not alone, so he cancel.

I think some riders want the whole car to themselves, but they don't want to pay for Grabcar and choose GS hoping no one else is onboard.

Sometimes I'll get asked, "picking up anyone else ?"

I said I dunno, it can come anytime.

If they dunno what is GrabSHARE, they shouldn't be taking it at all.

GS means sharing, it means there are other passengers onboard.

For Grabshare it is hard to have the whole car to themselves la. 90% total passengers would have at least 2 de. Last time time i tried uberpool at around 10pm at some heartlander, driver still got another passenger picked up along the way.

That is what some cheapskate passengers are secretly hoping for. Hoping that no other Grabshare request pops up. They're willing to take a chance to book Grabshare at lower rates to have the car to themselves in that scenario.

Difficult, no matter during what time of the day. Even you are the first passenger who boarded the car, no one can guaranteed if there is other Grabshare request pops up along the way lo. Even Grabhitch also no guaranteed there is only one passenger in the car. There is no such good thing cheap and yet good deal de.

confirm or not... I had a few but don't see it being paid (or yet to pay)... or have I overlooked.

again today got 2 more of such stupid single cheapo grabshare rides...

10.16am: Blk 319 Serangoon Ave - AMK Polyclinic (5.23km) $6.00

11.41am: Blk 804B Keat Hong Cl - Taman Jurong CC (8.16km) $8.00

after deducting 20% commission + fuel + road tax + insurance + car maintenance, I think I'm just doing the service for free (not counting time wasted + making my journey there to pickup).... feel grab should compensate drivers for such ride as it is they who sell grabshare ideas and drivers should not bear the blunt for such ride.

Really, are we able to know if it is normal grabcar/justgrab ride before we accept the booking (I very new into this - just started driving grab recently)...

Must see what kind of $6 fare.

If pass through ERP and you pay $2, then the fare becomes $4.

Grab still take $1.20. Now you only take $2.80. Not even enough to cover petrol and expenses.

Totally not worth it, better to take a hit on your CR or AR.

As a driver you are really suay. But as a passenger they are very lucky. Lol. Passenger hope that they pay Grabshare low fare and yet lone rider. So far when i tried taking such sharing ride as a passenger, usually there are total of at least 2 passengers de.

Cheapskates are everywhere, you can't avoid them. You can simply choose not to accept the booking. Of course that will impact your AR - but only very marginally.

Even if I do sign up for Grabcar Plus (haven't made up my mind), I will accept GrabShare only for the sake of that first 50 qualifying rides. After that I will close the door on Grabshare entirely again. You can't be receiving 20 Grabshare pings a day anyway.

Which part of Grab really shows Grab cares about the drivers? If Grab can have a team of customer service officers who are effective and knowledgeable, that is already a miracle. It has always been about Grab's own benefits. That is why I didn't jump on the bandwagon in the first 3-4 years of its existence.

A friend of mine who is a hardcore Grab supporter ... I will just tell her in her face don't give me bulls**t.
