it's been more than a month since the 10% rule... any observations or significant changes? i do notice that increasingly, people are taking the back seat for hitch.

Use to have better incentives for grabhitch drivers too. Like extra 30 bucks if you pick a number of unique riders and have a number of active days. Slowly, all gone.

Sometimes, I take grabhitch to airport. Really irritating those phv drivers stack so many riders, sometimes without informing me. Yes, grabhitch can stack, but not a must to stack. And these drivers are very yaya about their ability to stack multiple riders per trip. I was told, MANY times, that they only drive grabhitch to and fro airport. Just a few trips a day is enough to cover rental and petrol plus earn extra.

When i do grabhitch, I barely stack. It should be on the way, and I don't drive around for fun. So, why would one have so much free time to go around stacking passengers? Grab really need to look into the idea of grabhitch and stop those full time phv from exploiting this options.

Grabhitch is car pooling.

PHV drivers are commercially driven entities who should not be allowed to hitch.

I used to put up a regular hitch route to and fro work. If anyone happens to go along the same route, I'll be more than happy to accept the hitch request. I do not go about looking for hitch requests that were out of the way. My time and petrol is worth.more than travelling out to those more than 5 min outside of my planned route.

Stacking is debatable. If everyone is going the same exact route, no harm stacking 1 more. But it shouldn't become a case of school bus going round to pick up school children  making the journey longer than necessary for everyone inside.

With the PHV taking hitches, increasingly hitchers no longer bother to differentiate between private car owner vs PHV drivers. That's why more are sitting in the back.

To me this hitch culture is morphing into something that I do not agree with. Thus I no longer offer hitches.

If hitch driver also stack more than 1 passenger, then passenger might as well go for pool?

You mean Grabshare?

Not sure, but did a quick read up on that function, it's just PHV with sharing/pooling function for cheaper rates.

Yes, grabshare which is same as last time uberpool. For such sharing, it is a norm for driver to pick up more than 1 passenger de.

Maybe GH is a test platform for GS?

That's why PHV drivers should just keep to their Grabshare.

Apparently Grabhitch with gangbang pickups is a loop hole they exploit for better returns.

Grab should tighten on this, not the PHV driver fault to exploit on hitch lo. But Grab is not doing anything on grabhitch?

Anyway, I don't give hitch or take any hitch anymore. Just hearing complaints from friends who took hitch and being subjected to stacking without being informed. Turned them off from from taking hitch permanently.

Agreed, as a passenger hitch no longer nice to take, it have become like sharing.

Agree. While stacking is environmentally friendly, it is becoming a way to make money.

I used to hitch as a driver but after they start charging the 10%, I stopped. Did it for fun and with all these stacking and commission, etc, it got too commercial for me. I supported grabhitch initially as it was a social project, not for making money, i no longer believe it is the case now.

But grabhitch belongs to grab, so they have the right to charge.

i tried Grabshare once and i was picked up with 2 passenger already on board. Lucky their drop off was only 10min away and it was on the way to my destination, no time waste and not inconvenience.

It really depends on the driver stacking.. Whether or not he is considerate enough to make sure all are on the way and within short distances for drop off and pickup.

Grab should disallow stacking. Solve almost all the problem,.

> PHV will lose interest in pooling yet earn more through increased surge

> Single rider enjoy short travel time and become more driver friendly

> Carpool not becoming commercialized
