Weird thread. I have many Mercedes owning friends and none of them talk about specific merc parts like this thread. Most are clueless how cars work and some am I. Wonder these are AI posts by bots?

Many merc owners service at AD, just pay what the service advisors advise, never top up any fluids themselves and just replace with the same car after a decade.. consider them the high end drivers who graduated from the Corolla bunch who are equally loyal customers

however, the new electronics, the EV wave and the significantly higher prices are pushing them to the Chinese EVs which cost a lot less for a lot of car

C&C and their Service Centres will be happy for such ignorant and bo-chup customers. Service Advisors can sian them into paying for A service, B service and "suggest to replace" parts. With the usual C&C hefty markups.  Sales people also happy to meet this type that buy based on brand logo, ambient lighting, nice screens and pliant ride in a quiet cabin (with high markup).

Here especially since its a car forum, there are more hands on folks.

It's actually quite important to know how it works.  need not be the minute details but the key main parts.

Like the other day, my engine overheated. I checked coolant , no leakage, i checked pipes and hoses, all good. thermostat i replaced about 30,000km ago so i dont expect it to cock up, immediately i knew it had to be my water pump....  No, I didnt replace it myself but it was cool that I could mansplain it to my wife......muayhahhahhahhahhahha

I think for Mercy, more than 100,00km is common.

My thermostat kaput at 100,000km And water pump at 130,000km

all my past BMWs kaput water pump before 80,000km

thanks

it's around 100k km, give or take

I think I'll replace these few items preemptively

waterpump, thermostat, some coolant hoses and pipes

Yes i also think 100,000km is a good time to do preemptive action for those parts.
