Is the blades of your old one made of alu or zinc? The one on my w212  looks like  either alu or zinc, i nearly bought a plastic one to replace it but to access the fan has to go from under the passeger foot well, quite troublesome, so I gave up eventually. 😅

I didn't check the old fan, it was dusty so I just threw it in the box and discard 😅

The rear cam is part of the 360 cam, when another car or bike comes too close to the car, or the car gets too close to a curb or something, the 360 cam will be activated to display the surrounding of the car on the screen, and since the rear cam is part of the system, it will stick out until the object is further away or when the car starts moving.

my wife's car will quietly flip out the camera to check first

if the car thinks that she need to alert us, then only she will show the images on the screen

otherwise, she won't show it and close the camera flap again quietly after a while

meaning, sometimes the camera will flip out but it won't display the camera images on the screen

I think saloon cars do this too, in the background without you knowing

those models with camera under the flap got to "open eye" to see 😁

Ah, the word dusty, so my suspicion might be correct, made of zinc. That was the reason i had wanted to have it repalced but after openong the overhang board at the passenger floor well, i  gave up , though it was just i think one screw and a  twist of the motor to  remove the whole unit🤣

it is very well designed

mine don't even have screw to remove

pull down slightly and hold a plastic tab with the other hand, to clear a stopper, grab and twist the whole fan, then drop it

to install

just position it correctly, turn till the plastic tab clicks

as easy as replacing a light bulb 😁

the replacement OEM fan (made by BEHR) is very high quality

that is a balancing weight on the fan cage

they balance it like our wheel in the factory

so that it spin smoothly without vibration

Eh… lucky you know about this. Else itchy finger and yank it off! 😂

then non stop rattling. Mine had a rattle at high speed. Ended up some small plastic clip fell into the fan.

I uploaded the error codes (thermostat and particulate filter errors) screenshot to Chatgpt. It recommended an Italian tune up first before sending to workshop. Did that. And now the error code is gone.....hopefully won't come back tomorrow.

Petrol. Very strange.

"the “DPF” code is likely referring to the GPF/OPF (gasoline particulate filter), not a diesel DPF.

So this is usually:

less severe than diesel DPF problems

more often linked to temperature/short-trip issues

sometimes triggered secondarily by the thermostat fault"

thanks, now I have more questions 😁

what is the mileage of the car?

do you use low ash oil since day one?

this morning I just checked the status of the GPF/OPF, so far so good, mileage is 150k km

Less than 60k. But never rev (not me!) and short trips.  Serviced at MBM, never bothered to ask them what they use.

How do you check this particle filter?

my wife car used NON low ash/SAPS oil from new until 70k km, meaning in your case, at 60k km, the clog is unlikely caused by the non low ash/SAPS oil

after I took over the maintenance, then only use the correct MB229.51 or MB229.52 low ash/SAPS oil

I think your case is more likely GPF clogged by soot rather than ash

soot can be burnt away but not ash

just get the GPF real hot (Italian tune up), it should clear the clog

to see the status of the GPF, there is a hidden "workshop" menu in the MBUX

to access it, you got to do some left left right right up up down down using the buttons on the steering wheel, it is quite model/steering wheel specific, you can google about it 😁

for my wife's car

1 - car need to be in stationary, can be in D (i.e. waiting at traffic lights), engine running or not doesn't matter

2- change the display to show trip/odometer

3 - press and hold the "Home" button on steering wheel, count to 10 (less than 10 seconds)

4 - in less than a second, quickly move your thumb from "Home" to "OK", press and hold "OK", count to 10

then a hidden "workshop" tab with two spanners picture will show up in the menu

you will see several interesting parameters in the menu and you can also reset maintenance reminder, park the E-parking brake for brake pad change etc
