really don't understand the compulsive need to justify your own purchase on the forum

You test drove both and booked Harrier Turbo ?  If yes, congras !!

 

I cannot force you or any bro here to follow my already mentioned personal/subjective reason or buy decision and certainly not trying to ...lol .  and had also long story in the beginning of this new harrier 2017 and previously terminated new harrier threads before this decision.  Believe most can see I make effort to sharing my experience and only save off the cuff comment to "selected" bros but think therock and Andrew summed it up better I think:

Actually I am quite grateful to hear the sharings of justifications and rationale for your purchase or preference even if there is some personal bias, as long as we are gentle and kind with our remarks. It is many learning for me. This being a forum means it is a public place to air our views and opinions.

BTW, BM says collection is in January now.

As someone, the beauty of choice is that there's some car out there for each of us. YMMV.

 

No, I do not know Andrew and therock if they were faced with this decision marking, booked FXT or booked Harrier Turbo or already driving the FXT.

Haha, Forester is my wife's dream car but I am leaning towards Harrier so we are still thrashing it out thus I value comments from both sides. Thanks so much. I am also deciding whether to book now or wait a while more and this CEVS/VES issue is not helping.

Agree because BM says "Prices are inclusive of .............. rebate (whichever applicable)" but no harm to check and be sure.

CX5 just launch at Ritz Carlton, 2.0 selling at $131k, but seems not crowded. next thursday will be harrier turn.

My SE told me new VES charges not include in the price as they also don't know the actual surcharge (if any). But he did mentioned maybe will have, they are not inform yet.

This charge is base on emission i think LTA already published the surchage rate. BM base on spec should know how much is that right? Maybe i am wrong but worth asking.

Good to check since if just based on the VES table, it should be 10K surcharge by Jan 2018.  At the moment none was mentioned. I think they are still able to register the car before the end of the year based on the current stock and bookings, it would be meaningless  to mention that the price inclusive of new VES as the current booking has not reach the Jan 2018 registration yet.

 

Be it included or excluded, we as the buyer are always at the losing end....The biggest winner .....GOV

Yup Rich. I did read that you compared the 2 extensivly. After all the whole package of the car will shift buyer into different direction. Nothing right or wrong here, is just personal preference and i too feel that the discussion here is thus far civil except ocasionally a few try to say some "funny" thing.

You need to consider COE supply also. They are cutting next round.

actually FXT zhng liao looks v good. I've seen on the streets before, zhng FXT with bodykit, wheels and LED DRLs, red trimmings.. very very nice! Probably will still cost less than a stock Harrier  [laugh]

to me SUV need to look rugged. the XT some how fall into this (my personal taste) but i still prefer that older boxy model. the interior i close 1 eye still can accept.

Am certain if any of these extraordinary event occur, C&C will have the ultimate say to decide if they will allow me to take back my deposit or go ahead with a deal at a better than average deal just to keep a sale.

 

If there is a sudden change in CEVs (my time), I think it falls out of the "prevailing CEVs" condition of the deal. So likely I will have a say in withdrawing the deposit.

 

Liddat dangerous leh. Skali COE shoot up to $80k how n VES $20k surcharge how? Still forced to buy?

You need to consider COE supply also. They are cutting next round.

If you combined the Cat B and E for big cars, the actual cut is only 46 COEs or 1.26%, hardly significant.
