Sahadevan Senguttuvan said he panicked when he saw the e-bikers and did not brake.

However, Sahadevan said in his testimony that the trio had been stationary when the accident happened.

CCTV footage from a building opposite the scene of the accident showed that the e-bikes had been in continued motion.

He had worked for more than 12 hours that day, including time for meals and rest, which came to a total of about 2.5 hours, the inquiry heard. He added that he was not sleepy at the time of the accident.

He also said during the inquiry that the street lights had been dim at the time of the accident.

This was disputed by Traffic Police investigation officer Vilton Hia, who said the “roads were well-lit” that day, and that one would have been able to see clearly on the road. In addition, all three e-bikes had LED lights on them.

The late Mr Ang’s older sister, Ms Ang Hui Yee, grew frustrated on hearing Mr Sahadevan’s testimony.

She asked Mr Sahadevan if he was short-sighted, to which he replied “no”.

She also asked if he had seen the lights on their e-bikes, to which he said that there may have been lights at that point, but “it was not bright”.

Mr Ong’s mother, Mdm Chen Xuehong, also questioned Mr Sahadevan. She asked him why he kept denying the facts, when there was evidence. She told him: "If more people were there (that day), then more people would have died".

Anybody else thinks he was sleepy after 12 hours on the job?

:D

If he's sleepy he could have caused accident anywhere along his journey and it could have happened with any vehicles along the way or any trees or even lamp post. Unfortunately accidents mostly takes two parties to make it happen. Plus reputation of ebikes users aren't that great too. To me it's a 50/50 responsibility between the ebikes and the trailer. I might be wrong. Sad thing is the ebike users lost their life as a result.

Aiyo! He left his E-scooter and walked towards your car. He's really seow.

I almost "collided" with a E-scooter last week too. My kids and I were walking on the pavement. As we were approaching a bend, an E-scooter suddenly turned into our path. He had no time to stop and he jumped off his E-scooter to avoid hitting us and apologised to us.

At least he apologised and he had been ringing his bell before turning into our path (actually its blind spot as there's blockage from the bend, we couldn't see each other approaching). I was wondering where the ringing came from LOL.

[thumbsup]

At least he apologise. I met with many who even showed the middle finger. There is once i have to chase against one and almost drag him off to the floor. I really think government should just ban e-scooters and only grant to those with physical challenges. I understand the green initiatives and using park connectors to scoot to work, but to be honest, how many are really doing it? Edited by Andyngps

Green cars are also green and they are more easily regulated and tracked.

Green cars initiatives could have been brought up more proactively in the early years, with the govt and energy companies tying up together making such infrastructures more viable  earlier. The green cars policies could have seen more success by now.

Agreed. Think we got to wait another 10 years.

What happens when a MG 42 meets a willow tree?

Cause inconvenience to other's because of one's stupidity. [thumbsdown]

Please ban these nuisances.

These are already banned, just plain incompetence in enforcement, like many other things such as littering, illegal subletting of apartments...
