The only difference is PM2.5 for port injection.

Port injection is not known to have higher PM2.5 emission than Direct Injection.

Hi All, I did not read every pg (80 over pages) of this topic so if my questions were already answered, pls pardon me. I'm curious to kw why ADs mentioned about most cars price will increase after VES standard after July 2018.

Understand that CO2 emission 125g/km - 160g/km will be under band B which is $0 increase and $0 rebate. So car price should maintain same (of cos, suhject to coe price) for most 1.5/1.6 cars rite?

e.g:-

a) Honda City CO2 :- 133g/km

b) Honda Jazz 1.5rs :- 127g/km

c) Honda Civic T :-135g/km

d) Honda Civic :- 153g/km

e) Hyundai Elantra :- 149g/km

f) Hyundai I30 :-125g/km

some others .....

Maybe Cat B cars more subjected to price increase but not the above mentioned Cat A types. Am i wrong to assume that?

Hope to receive some pointers from you guys here. Thks.

Unless the real figures are out, I would only think it as a marketing tactic.

Come July, 1 more pollutant PM, will be measured to see if a car gets a rebate or surcharge.

Each of the 5 pollutants have their own scale of rebates and surcharges and the worst performing one will be used to determine the band the car falls under.

That’s my understanding from what I’ve read here.

addition of PM is the game changer here come July 2018.

Every car dealer waiting for LTA to complete the testing of the PM rating.  Only those new cars, such as Honda CRV 1.5T (5 and 7 seater) introduced early 2018 already had the rating done.  Strange but the CRV 1.5T (5 seater) had a $10k surcharge but CRV 1.5T (7 seater) remains neutral.

1.5T 7 seater already kena $10k. So, not affected.

Same goes Odyssey. Already kena.

Only those in B might become C in July.

Saw in Subaru website the imprezas' PM ratings are neutral too.

goodness... Kah motors really treat us like idiots if the above is correct... adding another 10k to their price for the 5 seater, the price difference between the 5 and 7 seaters is almost negligible.. yet 7 seater has so much more to offer..

Look at omv for both and you will have your answer.

In the first place, this kind need of sales tactic is to herd buyers towards 7seaters where they expect the bulk of sales to be. Those insisting on 5 seaters just have to pay the "premium" for standing out from the crowd.

hi guys, if you check thru LTA "Enquire Vehicle Information", are yours indicating the emission value ?
for those that register the car in year 2018.

Tell me if I'm wrong.  The current VES rebates that are built into the price will be negated at end of life as the 10k is deducted from the Parf value.  Eg currently, enjoy 10k rebate off the cost of your car now, but come scrap time, 18K (OMV value) - 10k = 8k = 4k (final scrap value).  So the point is after the "removal" of this rebate, the car price is hiked up 10k, the depreciation is the same anyway! so what is the point of rushing to register this car to enjoy the so called "rebate" now?

it’s the upfront cost especially for VES +$20k

ie. before Jul car is sold at $120k, after Jul $40k

means need to take more loan, pay more interest, pay more downpayment, etc

if rebate before Jul may be -$10k bit after Jul it’s neutral

yup agree with you bro. the higher upfront price will impact on an interest charge component, due to higher loan needed.  looking at the 18k OMV example again, the difference to depreciation is 5k, as difference between before and after July reg car for scrap value is 4k vs 9k (assuming 10k rebate becomes neutral).

Also noticed that Toyota may be the only AD that has officially announced which models will have added rebates or surcharge come July.  This is probably due to some models maybe sold out and not able to be registered in June, just my guess.  can see from the last price list here - http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_pricelist_listing.php
