From Altis to Vios to Sienta to CHR all from neutral to +$10K from 1 July. Prius C frm -$10K to + $10K. Dunno abt other Jap brands but Toyota shd be 60% of new Jap cars sold here and Jap cars shd be 60 of all cars. The will be some disruption.

This Toyota hybrid series is really funny, Prius C VES2.0 become +$10K, Prius is neutral, while the new Prius plus is -$10K??? The smaller the less green? Maybe is technology advancement? Lol..

The only changes from now to July 1 is PM2.5.

Since CHR uses direct injection, it is strange that there will be changes.

The rest is because of port injection.  I am interested in PM2.5 of respective car.

For prius, i am not sure how the testing is done since these cars can be driven on pure electric.

For rebate, the rebated amount will be deducted from PARF so scrap value lower. So as good as no rebate.

What about surcharge? Add back to PARF?

Not forgetting the entry of Go-Jek in the coming months might see a repeat of Uber's entrance. Buying a huge number of private cars jacking up COE prices

Same for Subaru XV. 1.6 has 20k surcharge while 2.0 is neutral.

You can prevent this ” jack up” from happening by coordinating all buyer vs Go-Jek. Made all buyer stop buying car for next few bidding. Let Go-Jek to buy all coe quota at $1 which set the new lowest car selling price.

Once Go-Jek achive the # of coe they intend, they will leave the market back to you.

However if u are lazy or not capable to do it like me, then just suck thumb instead of blaming on them

I am not sure I understand the logic of going for a high rebate car?

Sure your upfront cost may be less, but so is your resale and PARF.

Ultimately the so called money deducted is not a true rebate.

Totally agree, the $10K rebate looks great on paper is actually a $5K. Buyers are happy because they get $10K less up front. LTA is also happy because they collect full $10K-20K for those on penalty. So its a win-win, everyone happy.

Anw, why is VES2.0 cars list not published yet. Is it a secret list? Buyers now dependent on SE, who are often not zhun, for info.

No one gonna show hand now and let other competitors know their strategy/ execution.

Until the day arrive then only published out..

Take an example of another car with a rebate: the Merc B180..

You get a 10k rebate, which sounds good on paper, but they did not reduce their price that much, essentially the SRP is the same, but the rebates, trade ins are about the same, but what happens is that the 10k is now part of their profit.

However at the end of 10 yrs, you get much less PARF back, so nett nett, it's a loss with the VES rebate.

IMHO, it's best to aim for a car with a neutral band, or get one now that will soon incur a 10k tax.

That's my 2c worth.

You always have a choice of going to Bike, MRT, Walk.

Currently, A & B is the cheapest Merc.  Since price is not lower, what is the alternative to someone who die die want to buy a Merc?

actually there is not best time ... we dont know how the market will react to the increase in VES. whether COE will drop or increase ... if increase now is the best time if drop wait is the best time .. so unless you can predict
