Car sales minimal increase from last month. Buyers not rushing to beat VES in July. Not good for dealers. Their inventories going to get stuck. I guess they are equally if not more eager to sell their existing stock before 1st July. 5 weeks to go. Interesting to see what happens.

I think buyers are instead waiting what is final after the final VES, to have a peace of mind what they want to buy.

Don't want to rush in first.

Turbocharged

Don't buy into sales talk.

It's all a con job.

Before July : Buy now or regret later!!! Price will increase next month!! Save $10,000!!!! Don't miss it!!

After July : Price no change!!! We will absorb VES for limited time only!!! Hurry while stock last!!!

it’s all about FINAL price

VES and COE = govt revenue

to dealer ... either way is the same

why COE has soften now also because of VES

at end 2017 dealer cry papa cry mama COE sure shoot

what do we see now? VES up10k, COE drop 10k

(edited)

so ves 2.0 up and coe drop further?

depends on demand and buyer “carrot” level

assuming COE $40k + VES $20k = $60k

if buyer cannot stomach $60k ... COE has to go down because VES is fixed!

if buyers all want to cheong then obviously COE will also cheong

Looking at the list of cars affected by the upcoming VES changes...the difference in price can be up to 30K difference (from rebate to surcharge)

Come July 2018, resale car prices will go back up?

VES1.0 killed many Hybrid models; from $30K rebate to $0 rebate; the result is dropped in COE.

VES 2.0 is going to kill Japanese models;  many PI models going to get killed. It seems J-cars going to be hit with +$10K while K-cars & conti no change. This is going to disrupt the market.

Doubt so.

Japanese are one of the first movers in green cars.

They are keen to innovate to improve on their emissions too.

From Altis to Vios to Sienta to CHR all from neutral to +$10K from 1 July. Prius C frm -$10K to + $10K. Dunno abt other Jap brands but Toyota shd be 60% of new Jap cars sold here and Jap cars shd be 60 of all cars. The will be some disruption.

The most consumers pay more.

I doubt PIs will just stop importing the cars and close down for business, unless LTA really bans them for importing.

And the recent drop in COE prices, net off the increase of CEVS charges. Ultimately it's still the same.
