JohnnyBGood 1st Gear August 20, 2018 Share August 20, 2018 Why wouldn't the local dealer stick to the int'l market version. By removing so many essential accessories just to maximize profit would make the car so unappealing n it's going turn the buyers off. I wouldn't have book the EC if they didn't change their mind to put back the original SDA for the local market. The original infotainment offers so much more features than any other off-market HU could. Hopefully they don't keep changing their mind or we may ended up having different version very six months. Honestly speaking, i quite like the kenwood HU. In terms of features, i found it even better than what i had in my previous mazda and Volvo. Key thing is that it supports both apple carplay and android auto. The other thing i found useful on the Kenwood HU is gesture recognition. ↡ Advertisement

Also, the Kenwood HU lets you listen to CDs and watch DVDs, plus have your own wallpaper in the background (I have a photo of my family loaded as wallpaper!). Also, in future, you can easily replace / upgraded to other HUs when new models with new features come out, or for ICE setup. Additionally, the Kenwood has built-in navigation software with GPS, so you have the option to use Apple maps or the Kenwood map. Given a choice again, I would still choose the Kenwood even though at first I was thinking why I wasn't getting the factory fitted original HU. I agreed Kenwood HU is a better option in term of sound quality and the flexibility to future upgrade. Glad that you're happy with it. Hope other new owner with SDA can share their experience here. Would there be any local Mitsubishi Connect app or SDA app. Heard the trackpad only works with apple carplay.

SGCMlycan 1st Gear August 22, 2018 Share August 22, 2018 Mine came with Mitsubishi headunit. I prefer the stock headunit as I can access to.more car setting. With stock headunit, I got the TouchPad too which is pretty neat. Downside is that there are no CD drive which I have no use for it.
richard_crl032 6th Gear August 22, 2018 Share August 22, 2018 Hi Bancer, Thanks but gla180 at that price is not too inviting. Had my test drive with nice/friend/profession lady SE ... no complain there. In summary with consideration that I am driving the forester fxt modded heavily on sound proofing, autofoam etc., and not someone who cares too much on FC as qualifying statements: - 1.5T turbo indeed more punchy for nicer and quieter driving experience than many 2,0L NA car, including CX5 2.0L and XV 2.0L tested recently especially against compact SUV/crossover but not level of Civic Turbo which is of course 1.5T sedan - NVH is ok and typical but transmission under normal drive is not the quietest ... has this audible/vibration roughness - interior is typical of mass market car but rear shift-able and reclining seats is cool ... a little bit more busy, including the leather seats) than forester which is also certainly not high quality with CX5 beating it for sure and even the new 95k XV (no solar film on windscreen due cool hi end eyesight safety system) but beats the CX3 2.0L which is simply aweful - exterior is subjectively unique but nothing to shout about ... perhaps too much chrome even for me from merc gen - low entry price of 103k for the bare bone "elegence" variant of existing clearance units (silver and titanium grey) .. CX5 basic is 118k, CRV is 130k but halogen headlights is hard to swallow Will discuss more with wife but I probably will not recommend since 103k is still a lot of $ and ok to push the budget a bit though not to wishful XC40 at 162k in last week's demo sales especially since 2nd family car for wife to drive to/fro work on weekdays. Hope this helps .... Cheers, Richard Hi bros, Booked the mazda6 2.0l executive last sunday .... albiet having to compromise not having a crossover/suv with preferred higher driving position, leisure pick up, higher road tax and FC. In the end, the considerations are as follows: - plush interior even in the 2.0-2.5l segment that is markly better than 1.6-2.0l segment especially SUV - <110k but with all the current safety features of bsm, AEB, lane departure/anti collision/rear alert - nice and sleek external design - good handling and solid ride Cheers. End up also with mazda 6 2.0 executive.Hi Kenomi, I din like EC overall except more punchy pick as much as CX5 which is a bit more noiser than mazda6 since same engine is nearer to driver and cabin and interior still utility focus and not sedan like plush focus. Cx5 is also 13k more for almost equitable spec. but missing AEB which I do like to have in the mazda6. Any reason why you did take the Cx5 or reasons as mentioned ? Cheers. Adyrai 1st Gear August 23, 2018 Share August 23, 2018 I cannot tell you exactly (need to be in front of the Kenwood HU) but look for the menu where you can customise things, like gesture controls, the coloured lights on the right panel (you can change that too), etc. There is one item on changing wallpaper where you have the option to upload your photos via USB. If still cannot find, then got to refer to the manual that came with your Kenwood HU. Noted and thank you for sharing

richard_crl032 6th Gear August 23, 2018 Share August 23, 2018 Congrats on finding a car that suits your requirements! Enjoy your ride! How long will the wait be? Any freebies? Hi Blue, Thanks ! Guess no perfect car and will only know after some time of driving if indeed good decision or a bad one. Silver executive got stock and collecton in Sep for them to play around with COE but chosen white for wife is Oct/Nov .. long wait :( <110k is already with nego with usual front/rear cam, reverse cam, solar film but with added 1 yr or 20k km service and 1k service vouncher ... unfortunately missed the launch 1 month ago when looking for new car despite various advert here cos din know such attractive price unlike camry etc. Pls note only 3 yr warranty unlike typical 5 yrs for engine and gearbox against 10 yrs engine warranty by Mitsubishi. Cheers. Richard
Jus4fun 1st Gear August 25, 2018 Share August 25, 2018 (edited) Was at TOMO-CSE this morning. Saw 3 new SMC/D EC owners there getting the DVR cameras fixed.. 2 r the higher variant that c/w the original infotainment (no GPS) system & touchpad. The other 1 is the entry-variant c/w aftermkt Kenwood HU. Heard frm TOMO-CSE tt they r finalising the deal w C&C on integrating their aftermkt GPS w the infotainment system. When this is done, GPS will b part of the package deal.. Oso heard sm owners wanting the aftermkt HU were surprised & upset to get the infotainment system, which they did not prefer, at delivery. Really one man's meat another's poison.. Anyway, glad to see more (hopefully not too over-crowded though Edited August 25, 2018 by Jus4fun ↡ Advertisement
