List Price is $220k for the base model and $250k for the higher end one.

I'm not sure what discount they giving.

 

huh? Thought it is supposed to compete with C class. With such kind of price, which class is their intend to compete with?

Sorry, have to correct my earlier post, the XE 2.0 is not 6 cylinder.

Read the brochure too quickly which stated refinement of a 6 cyl from 4 cyl motoring!

Didn't go for test drive but attended the launch. It was very crowded couldn't even talk to the SE.

That was the list price but some other bros hv confirmed that it's going for $200k launch price for base model with 5yr free Servicing. Edited by Spring

Crowded coz they were not selective in inviting a targeted audience but instead even people like me also get invited haha. It will only sell well if price correctly coz C Class still the leader IMO.

on the price , seem to be on the high side if they want to compete with 3ser and C class

The S type was rubbish and the x type was DOA. Plus those cars were terrible in the reliability area.

 

The xj and xf have a solid proven record. I may be wrong, but I still think this XE is a beautiful pussy.

Compared to what car though, Nissan Teana, Kia Forte?

 

Enthusiast buy their cars base on its engineering heritage, the Indian owners have not diluted that and with the new XE actually shows they have management synergies which compliment. From that view there is no difference if it was owned by India or China owners so long as the brand heritage still stands. For the XE in particular there are many areas the XE stands out among-st it's competes, 7 Speed ZF GB, all aluminium chassis, double wishbone suspension, ingenium engine among the many.

 

Another class of car owners buy cars based on branding this category would typically be effected by these kind of concerns (company ownership), then again this crowd most likely would not be looking at the XE but sub 2.0 liter cars within the similar branding arena. (not applying to budget enthusiast of course)

 

Brand snobbery aside, what car would you recommend over the XE?

Oh so even Mondeo can beat the C class liao.

 

It's the drive dude, if it can beat the 3 series, it's good enough for me. Not everyone is looking at the badge or so call luxury.

If one day mercedes owned by China co, would u still buy mercedes?

Volvo owned Geely does it mean the car is china car?

 

 

Come on man, its just the owner. Jaguar the brand itself is still strong as its heritage. In fact its still built in UK.

 

 

 

And also if its based on mondeo chassis makes u dont wanna buy, then nobody will buy cayenne cos its chassis based on vw touareg
