No idea, but you can just convert to post paid then do port over.

As long as users are given ample times to migrate with another Telco than there won't be an issue I reckon.

My wife needed a new line so I got her SIMBA 50G ($10), as she needs 20G data (watch video).

We hit a snag when trying to install Whatsapp. It couldn't send a SMS for verification, Maybe something weird due to the Huawei phone, with no Google apps. But we opt to have the app make a call (to tell us the code) and this was settled. Then it says, the account is protected by Two-tier verification. F..k.. It wants to verify through email previously registered . .wtf.

This is supposed to be a new line, why is this happening ?

Later, I realized this is probably a return number to SIMBA, and recycled, and the previous owner had activated the two-tier verification with his email, which of cuz we have no access to.

According to Whatsapp FAQ, we had to wait 7 days, before it can be reset. She need to use it urgently in her work. How to wait for 7 days and not knowing will it be able to reset then ?

So I had to hunt for another SIM only plan telco. I found VIVIFI running on Singnet network. .. hmm .. not bad I suppose. 20G for $11. I paid $5 extra for delivery and it was delivered within 2 days. The big problem I found was the SIM activation. It is ridiculous, it wants a device which can take picture, the barcode printed on the SIM card. I struggled with that, as the webpage showing the scanner barcode seemed to do nothing, while aiming the camera at it. After trying a few times, changing browsers and so on, suddenly it decide to fill up the barcode on the webpage. This is ridiculous, if I had problem, I should be able to read and key in manually, rather than compulsory using the "scanner" button to fill the barcode.

After that hoo-ha, I was able to active the SIM and installed Whatsapp.

Hopefully we won't find anymore unusual problem cropping up. I terminate SIMBA following this.

For post paid numbers, almost 90% numbers are recycle, not matter the number is super nice or not. I remember my previous number quite nice, but it was a recycle number cause i keep receiving calls and SMS to look for a person which i dont know. Nowadays teleco seldom launched a brand new series of numbers for customers to choose. Always give some random numbers on the list.

You should have gone for zero1. I have successfully transferred all family members lines over to zero1. Also gotten a new line for my boy newly purchased smart watch. All done within two work days (booked, collected and activated).👍

Headache with whatsapp or apps that are tied to the numbers.

My wife's case is a little complicated. had to give up the old number from m1. They offer to us that we can retrieve the old number, but need to pay $16, after we terminated. I didn't want to pay, also I have to physically go down to one of their shops. I thought might as well try a new number, (online) from a MVNO on Singtel network, maybe there's a better chance to get a really "new" unused before, number.

So I came across VIVIFI first, and the price looks reasonable. After all, there's no contract, I could easily go to zero1 next time.

But I like that we got a reasonably nice number, so we can keep this, and port over later on, if we wished.

I find SIMBA a bit of "holes" here and there, so their network is not that complete. But I'm paying a $5 senior plan, so I may keep it for a while.

I got rid of my landline ages ago.  No more fun when kids grew up and no longer enjoyed talking c**k and mocking cold calling property agents

my aunt still keep her landline since 80s

mine was since 1994, still got friends or relatives call in.

I think starhub and Simba can do it. but you need to visit their service center. They will first port over your existing pre-paid card to their pre-paid card.  Then they will port it over again to their post paid.

surprised your house phone line can even survive that long. 

by the time my parents stopped using landline maybe 7-8 years ago, only 1-2 of the RJ45 ports in the home can work. My parents flat was bought in 1985.

I always have the impression that if a house has a landline from Singtel, usually there are elderly staying in that house, cause they have got used to using landline to communiate to the outside world.

For youngsters, there will have a so called 'landline' that is given by the telco when subscribe to home broadband service. But some people also never connect the line with a phone also. Lol.

What is RJ45? Over the years due to various renovation and relocation we did contracted the Singtel to relay the land line. 

We retained the number and the laneline is at my mum place now. I am paying for it. 😁 Anyway recent years she hardly has any calls to the landline.

as in the telephone line connector port.

My parents place used to have 4 of them. By the time 30 years later. only 1 was working. The telephone wires degraded over the years.
