This is the 1997 printout from TNP that Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh shared in Parliament today (10 May) to highlight his point on editorial independence in Singapore. 

He added that the only thing objective about the page is the EPL scores below. 🤣🤣

Communications & Information Minister S Iswaran  had said earlier that Singapore's media already has a culture of editorial independence.

"We do a disservice to our journalists and editors to suggest anything to the contrary," he said.

The Journalists and Editors in SG media... they are just in the job to make their daily living.

Editorial independence I don't think is important to them otherwise they long already jump to other jobs already.

Honestly if I am in their shoes I also do the same.

SPH Media will be cut out as an independent entity,  after the split,  they will have nothing to do with the list co,  which has no new name yet. 

With the split,  the new list Co is unlikely to be appointed as the guarantor. Base on what has been reported,  if the gov is prepared to fund SPH media, it is very likely the gov will undertake as guarantor. 

Ah kaw will be answerable to the guarantors, but he might not report to them.  Low chance he and umbrage will have anything to do with each other.

Yes, Kaw will be managing Ah Gong's business while Ng will remain in the listco. 

But Ng, a strong defender of SPH editorial independence, may be better suited to manage a private business (vis-a-vis a public one given his recent umbrage episode).

While ranking is also BS, our media is definitely not independence lah. So as to the rest of the world including USA. In that sense we should allow more private press but if they cross the line on national securitymatters, then they have to be taken to task.
