It's that bad to the extent that Luca Di Montezemolo said at least the Chinese won't copy this one 😆

Design met with worldwide criticism, we say its meant to target a separate audience who have never owned a Ferrari or ever considered Ferrari loh. If design met with worldwide acclaim, we say that's how a Ferrari EV should be like, upholding the pure Italian bloodline and DNA as its long list of illustrious ancestors 😁

It doesn’t look like a Ferrari but it certainly looks unique. But interior/ interface is nice.

Specs are not great vs a Tesla at less than 1/10 the cost. After ARF, COE, etc, it will probably cost at least $2m here, I hope to see a few on our road, good for nation building and for showing foreigners how rich we are. 😃

I just want ah gong to say huat ah from the extra customs duties, ARF and GST that they will earn vs selling a bread and butter Cat B car.

The Internet is having fun comparing it with Wangyang U9, which cost 40% of its Ferrari compatriot. If the badges are switched between the 2 super EVs, me think the Universe might have been more peaceful.

this is the natural shape of a BEV

this is a BEV that try to look like an ICE car

BYD-U9.jpg&w=2048&q=75

the proportions of a sports car that we are familiar with, are the result of the fact that it has an engine. The cabin and engine placement, the cooling ducts are necessity rather than ornamental

BEV has a skateboard platform

Lead-REE-min.jpg

if you want to be honest with the shape and proportions when designing a car around this skateboard platform

you will end up something like the shape of Luce 😁

expecting a BEV sports car to look like an ICE sports car

it is like asking a designer to make an induction stove to look like a kerosene stove

LOL!

I only know Italian chef can be very demanding in using the "right type" of cooking stove.

Some even prefer the traditional charcoal stove just to get that mah-mah-mia taste

Rightly or wrongly, the Luce is the product a very un-Italian cuisine that drove many Ferrari fans nuts, BEV or not.

😜

And speaking of driving Ferrari fans emotion, Ferrari's Chief Designer Officer explains why the Luce is shape the way it is.

And Flavio Manzoni pointed out the hard physical (limitation) in every EV design challenge - A less than perfect aerodynamic at high speed will kill your EV range.

With "just" maximum output of 1,050 hp at WLTP 530km range, Luce shape and forms will need to be very very un-Ferrari.

[The EV] must be like a kind of solid object, very pure....The drag co-efficient is particularly important for battery efficiency for driving at high speeds.

4 motor that produces > 1,000hp.  It does not feel the need to push higher hp.

This is THE daily Ferrari for ppl to flex.

I actually dont see any reason for or against either the Luce or Yangwang design given the skateboard platform, other than requiring the car to be a bit higher than traditional ICE car. For ultimate track ability, given the skateboard base, I would assume it would end up looking close to the LM-GT shapes.

even Ferrari also use that dark section trick to hide the belly fat

this kind of optical trick doesn't work on me since long time ago

I can see through it...

The logical reason i can come out with why luce look this way.

Its because Ferrari join the race too late.

All the popular and nice ev design taken up by china EV.

Any new design they come out with will have the 'copy' stamp on it.

😅

With BEV on skateboard platform, there isn't a need for those long bonnet, which is a total waste of landscape in ICE (boh bian for those big cc longitudinal engine though).

2026-Jaguar-00-0-1400x788.webp

Actually the aborted Dyson electric car is nice imo, trading long bonnet for more interior space.

The only reason for a more traditional looking BEV, other than aesthetic, could be a backup plan for some Chinese auto manufacturers, as more are now rolling out EREV in view of the change in market sediment.

And what a historic transition we have just witness. In Ferrari's context, Luce is

  • the lowest drag vehicle.
  • heaviest model.
  • not market as a sports car, but in SUV segment.

All these launch it in the Year of the Fire Horse.

😁

The Ferrari Luce Had to Reinvent the Windshield....

....it is still strange to see a production car that keeps its wipers upright, perched right up against the A-pillars, when not in use. This makes the wipers strangely prominent aspects of the sedan’s design. This is the guy (Jony Ive) that brought the “notch” to the iPhone, at a time when every other company making phones was fighting physics to make selfie cameras invisible.
