Finally, after months of waiting.. the wait is over. Collected my new ride HRV DX..am pleased with overall performance...everything works within expectations except the HU is indeed no touch screen. Also notice there is 3.5mm jack beside the cigarette lighter compartment, wondering what is that for. Imo, the button with a 'capital A in a circle' takes time to get use to. Feel slight vibration when engaged and deactivate.. anyone has same experiece?

The 3.5mm input jack, also known as an AUX port, is common in cars today. It allows you to connect an analog audio source to the device (in this case, your car head unit) via a standard 3.5mm cable, also known as AUX cables. Think of it like plugging a microphone to your computer.

E.g. directly connect your phone, iPod, WALKMAN, etc. to the car with a wired connection to play music. A wired connection such as this usually has better quality than a wireless one.

Many thanks Smurff and 7hm... appreciate deeply. In fact there are 2 more questions.

1. HU has an option to update screen wallpaper. Anyone successfully install it and how?

2. Can't seem to locate the gear shift button to unlock gear box. This is useful in the event when the car is stalled.

Tried to upload pictures but failed.. would start a chat group for technical support/sharing and legal modification. Those keen can PM.

A lot of speaker systems (both fixed and portable) have AUX inputs as well.

For 1., does the HondaLink system have a settings menu? You'll probably find it there. I expect you have to use a physical media like a SD card or USB pen drive with the image loaded to transfer it to the head unit. That's how it is with my brand's system at any rate.

2. Are you talking about those BTSI or similar things?

Concerned about towing scenario?

Is this the information you are looking for? I think it's normal for most cars to hide the BTSI switch nowadays (and it's rarely a button), so you may want to keep a screwdriver in your vehicle.

I wrote to Mr Christopher Tan to ask him about the VIN no issue, and this is his reply:

(he is the motoring guru from ST)

Tks for your mail.

I've checked with Kah Motor personally and they tell me the car is made in Japan.

The Mexican plant makes cars for the North/South American markets.

It would make little sense for Honda to:
1) source from a market farther from Thailand
2) source from a market with a lower perceived quality than Thailand
3) make RHD cars in a plant dedicated to LHD cars

So it's all good  [thumbsup]
