  1. Manthey Racing's Porsche 911 GT2 RS broke the production car lap record of the Nurburgring with a time of 6:40.3 last year. Chris Harris drives it in his latest video. For those who have no idea who is Manthey Racing, it is a basically a company filled with people who can make your Porsche GT2/3 RSs even more 'RS'. Partly owned Porsche, the company prides itself as the experts of the Nurburgring and has modified the GT2 RS you see in the video even better for track use. The results are amazing as it beats cars like the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ and the McLaren P1 LM at the Green hell by more than three seconds. Shot at Portimao circuit, Chris Harris has a go in the Porsche 911 GT2 RS which has the MR Performance kit. Consisting of a trick KW coilover suspension, new endplates on the rear wing along with a different splitter, underbody panels, rear diffuser, better brake pads and new lightweight magnesium wheels, it allowed Harris to go faster than he did with the McLaren P1, the LaFerrari and the Porsche 918 Spyder.
  2. Just now when I was on the ECP in the direction of changi airport, I was suprised by not onlyhow little cars there were but also of the standard of drivers shown by those cars. There were nobody who just stayed on the overtake lane, everybody did their overtake on Lane 1 and filter to lane 2 after. I would like to commend on those drivers, that's the way brothers n sisters! Usually I see drivers hogging lane 1 or even staying on lane 1 even tho lane 2 is clear, that's why sometimes lane 2 is th better lane for overtake lane. But today those on ECP, seems to remember their Highway Code

  4. Bros & Sistas, Me went down to AMK last nite to meet up with EZ-STAB guy on his regular installation and demo session..Saw an Altis and Euro-R there getting fixed up. When my turn, the EZ-STAB guy, Jon was real nice and explaned to me abt his pdt and the science of it..I was giving him a doubtful look and then....he offered to install a test unit on my car and let me drive around with it for free for one week...I was really shock to see someone so confident of his product.. Right now, the unit is in my car, and he only asked for my name and HP.. As a true blue Singaporean consumer, I told him if it really works well for me, I will beep him and pay him for it...but if not...then.... Guess what...He told me if it doesn't work for me, stripped it from my car and dumped it....Wah lao eh...I 'm really really impressed now... Today, I will be giving it a real tryout....wondering if any fellow forumers here had any similiar experience here...
  5. After seeing those water sheeting videos on EnviroShield, I couldn't wait but to grab hold of it and did 2 coats of on thursday and because it is so easy to use, did 2 coats of it with an interval of 10mins. This morning, I took some pictures of water beading being left overnight. Beadings may not be as tight and round compared to collinite but just a 5 mins drive and all water droplets are gone. The best is, there are no water marks with dirts being left behind. Below pictures taken with 2 coats of enviroshield I did a 3rd coat today. Not sure if my eyes are playing tricks on me. I realised the shine get better after each coat. I love the sparkling looks enviroshield produced like a mirror and of cos the ease of use. On the other hand, I find collinite added depth to its color which maybe better for dark color? A coat of collinite 476 two weeks ago.
  6. Is it just me, or the media is giving Tan Chuan-Jin more exposure than other newly minted PAP politicians? All these media exposure is making Tan Chuan-Jin look good.

  8. Ng Tze Yong Thu, Aug 28, 2008 The New Paper 'I needed to shout for these people' HAD it been Taiwan's boisterous parliament, yesterday's little moment might have gone unnoticed. But in Singapore, where Parliament is as proper as they come, the incident was no less than an outburst. Halfway through the marathon parliamentary session, Dr Lily Neo (Jalan Besar GRC) suddenly waved a piece of paper frantically at the Speaker, Mr Abdullah Tarmugi, like a latecomer flagging a departing bus. When she got no response, she stood up, walked to the rostrum and stopped the Speaker from moving on to the next question. Then, with eyes flashing, she said in a terse tone that she needed to rehash a previous point. Backs stiffened. All held their breath. Okay. No shoes were hurled and no fists thrown. But a fellow parliamentarian had - by Singapore's yardstick - exploded. The House had been debating a question raised by Dr Neo. She had asked the Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, a three-point question. One, whether his Ministry is monitoring how lower-income Singaporeans are being affected by inflation and the stagnation of wages. Two, whether the available assistance is lessening their difficulties. And three, whether there will be other measures to ensure that no one falls through the cracks. In her reply, Minister of State Yu-Foo Yee Shoon, who was standing in for Dr Balakrishnan, listed the different assistance schemes available, and cited examples of families which benefit from the schemes. Then, before she knew it... 'Question 8!' The Speaker had signalled the House to move on to the next question, tabled by Dr Lam Pin Min (Ang Mo Kio GRC). In the row above her, Dr Lam was already rising to acknowledge the Speaker. That was when Dr Neo lost her cool. She reiterated her call for more to be done (the Speaker kept silent) and Mrs Yu Foo rose to clarify a few points. But the question remained: What made the usually-polished Dr Neo flustered? When The New Paper caught up with her after parliament ended, she explained she was speaking up for low-income families who are not eligible for Public Assistance because one or both of the parents are working. These are the needy ones, she said, who have fallen through the cracks. They are the cleaners, the hawker assistants who, despite the Government's mantra of helping citizens help themselves, are so down and out they have no way of helping themselves, she said. 'They see the rich, and they see Singapore progressing,' said Dr Neo. 'But then they say, look at me, what chance do I have?' Dr Neo's gripe is this: The existing assistance schemes are all temporary and ad-hoc. 'We need something permanent for these people that can lift them out of the poverty cycle, like getting the kids to pre-school or getting the parents better jobs,' she said. Why wasn't she satisfied with the answer? 'I didn't need to be told what policies we have. I know that already,' said Dr Neo. Trying her luck Half of Dr Neo's constituents live in rental flats. 'There are many questions that have to be addressed in Parliament, and the Speaker has to give everyone a chance,' she said. 'But I wanted to try my luck. I was waving my paper at the Speaker already but he skipped me! 'So I told myself I had to get to the rostrum before the next person could start speaking.' Some of her fellow MPs were amused. 'They were asking me afterwards, how come you wave like that? Some others were saying... yah yah yah, did you see her, I couldn't see her head but I could see her paper!' she said. 'But I just felt I needed to shout for these people. I think I did, and I wanted to.' This article was first published in The New Paper on Aug 26, 2008. Where have all these type of MPs gone?????? Rare creature.

Alonso was watching a man being driven around in a two seat Santander grand prix car by a mysterious white-clad driver. "I've no idea who he is, but he's definitely ex-F1," Alonso continued. Who was he talking about? The Stig of course! Those of you who were at Silverstone last weekend may have noticed the well-known tame racing driving lapping the circuit before the F1 cars went out to the grid. The Stig had been bought in a Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital charity auction for the princely sum of
  12. thinks he's just echoing what the press is stating ... too late ... plus he's not a real banker... Business Times - 03 Apr 2008 AGM WATCH Liquidity crunch will affect all banks: DBS chief No link between sub-prime losses and ex-CEO's departure, he says By CHOW PENN NEE FINANCIAL markets are still in an 'unprecedented period of volatility', said DBS chairman Koh Boon Hwee on the sidelines of the bank's Annual General Meeting (AGM) yesterday. He added that although Asian banks were less affected by the US sub-prime crisis, all banks would feel the impact of the ensuing liquidity shortage. 'We are all affected secondarily because when there is a shortage of liquidity, it affects all banks, good or bad,' he told reporters. The bank made allowances for 90 per cent of its S$267 million in investments in collaterialised debt obligations (CDOs) linked to the sub-prime. He said financial markets are still facing an 'unprecedented period of volatility' owing to the sub-prime crisis. Mr Koh also talked about expansion plans beyond its main markets in Singapore and Hong Kong. These may include acquisitions in the Middle East, Australia and Vietnam. 'I definitely include the Middle East and I think of Australia as part of Asia,' Mr Koh said. He added 'a rep office is not the only thing I want in Vietnam'. The bank earlier this month received a licence from the State Bank of Vietnam to set up a representative office in Hanoi. A shareholder, Mr Ow, asked why Jackson Tai - the outgoing chief executive - was the only 'casualty' of the losses in CDOs relating to the sub-prime. This, despite all local banks having sustained losses relating to investments in the sub-prime debacle. Mr Koh responded that there is no connection between Mr Tai's decision to return to the United States and the sub-prime losses. He also added: 'The deterioration in the bank's share price has no correlation with the departure of Mr Tai.' Separately, on a question pertaining to DBS' decision to close down some of its 'Treasures' preferred banking branches in a few locations, Mr Koh noted that rentals are escalating and the bank was not able to get the space it wanted. 'We have to take into account the expense and cost factors,' he explained
